The title of this album is definitely deserved. It is very, very funky. (It is hard to stress just how funky this album is!)
Maceo Parker used to be the sax player for James Brown (so you've probably heard lots of his funky riffs before). His riffs here are very groovy, and his improvisation is cool and catchy. There are also the odd trumpet, trombone and keys solos. (And dont forget to mention a great rhythm section!)
Most of the tracks have some vocals on. There are both male and female vocals, with some rapping too.
I saw Maceo live, and the atmosphere was amazing. I only managed to make it to the gig for the last half of Maceo's set, but it was easily worth it because this man is seriously good. Maceo's groove will make you move. If you like funky music you will love this CD.
