alright i bought this one cause i heard some good things about it
and to tell the truth they where half right
yust like the mister under noticed first hour drags a little but it keep your interest in who s the kiler

The last half hour was great.
Grandma who plays a norman bates in the basement while keeping here dead husband there.
But how she s played the part of the schizofraniac that was fantastic.

To be honest it s a fun movie but, see it like a agatha christie movie and you going to like it.

Fun 80's flick 7 July 2006
By GreatMovieCriticForever - Published on
Format: DVD
Yeah the DVD might be crap but I'd still recommend this "lost gem" for many reasons: 1) It's fun 2) The death scenes are setup 3) The score isn't that bad.

It does have a few problems. For one it's predictable, the "twist" ending did not fool me. At times it can be slow but the lead which is a pretty girl ,Lesleh Donaldson, is very talented and manages to carry the film very well. She's a girl working at a funeral home with her Grandma looking for her Grandfather, and a bunch of murders which seem to point back at home start happening.

An ok 80's film. Definitely fun to watch with popcorn and soda.

Yet another dissapointing dvd relase of this nostalgic title 21 Mar. 2012

I received my copy of Funeral Home which I must say I find to be a very under rated lost gem from the 80's with excellent atmosphere and a creepiness that is sustained throughout the film. That being said, I have been consistently dissapointed with the various dvd editions that have been released for this film because they are obviously merely vhs imports with no remastering. I was hoping this release would be an official remastered release with good picture/audio quality. Unfortunately, I immediately realized from the opening credits that this is one of the worst transfers I have ever had the displeasure of viewing. The picture quality is at times unwatchable with large red lines appearing across the picture, particularly in the night scenes.

This movie deserves an official re-mastered release. It is an exceptional entry from a nostalgic era when horror movies were a pleasure to watch due to their creepy atmosphere and errie music, even despite their low budget origins. I long for the day when a reputable company can rescue this title from the public domain and release an official version that fans of this film deserve.

The only positive thing I can say about this purchase is that at least the company used the original poster for the dvd cover art. This has always been one of my favorite classic covers from the 80's and I wish more companies would realize that true collectors of these films would like to have the original cover art rather than the cheap looking re-done covers many films utilize these days to make the films appear more modern but only accomplish dissapointing the true fans who purchase these titles in the first place.

It's evident once the film starts, that no amount of restoration or effort was put into this DVD release from CFS; the company responsible for the horrible bootleg video/audio quality. I'll admit that I own some poor quality budget DVD's, but this has to be one of the worst I've ever seen. The source material for this release must have come from a worn out bootleg VHS, collecting dust in the basement of a Funeral Home.

The video image is plagued with speckling, debris and annoying lines that fill the TV screen throughout the film, way to much for any fan of this movie to tolerate. The colors are pretty much washed out and the print is way too dark. The movie is barely viewable in my opinion and this review should serve as a warning to any fan of this movie. Buyer Beware!

I've always regarded "Funeral Home" as an underrated creepy Canadian classic from the 1980's and I was super excited when my copy finally arrived. When I looked on Amazon on the day of release, it said the film was out of stock; I thought this was a good thing. Sadly my excitement quickly went away the second I put the DVD into my player. Some things should remain buried and this poor effort from CFS is one of them. My copy is already on its way back to Amazon.

What a disappointment!

NO extras! NO Widescreen! NO remastering! NOTHING!!!

Shame and blame to those who released this DVD in such a careless way.

Fans of this film, you've been warned!

My Favorite Bad Schlock Horror Flick!!!! 29 Jun. 2009
By RobertsLadyDove - Published on
LOVE this movie! My friend & I watched it and laughed all the way through the whole thing---it's creepy but mostly hilarious because of the bad acting, bad props, bad special effects... I have a special fondness for this & am SO glad that you can buy it on DVD...but I do think that the VHS version holds a special place in my heart if for no other reason because the schlocky quality of tape vs. dvd seems to make it that much more apropos, because it gives it an even cheesier, crusty kinda' feel to it. I would recommend this to anyone who just wants to sit back, chill with your favorite mood-adjusting beverage, and not have to think too much. It's a purely guilty pleasure, one that I highly recommend & feel the need as I write this to go rent it again & just be happy that I'm not the one gettin' stabbed with a giant embalming stick...just watch the movie and you'll understand that last comment... :)
