Review

Earth-breaking guide. -- The Guardian, Aug. 7, 1996

Howard Lake offers a balanced and practical view; given the fluidity, the rate of change and the hype that surrounds the Internet, this is no mean achievement. -- Trust Monitor, autumn 1996

The Book of the Week -- The Guardian, Aug. 14, 1996

From the Author

Following my Masters research into Internet fundraising I was determined to pass on what I had learned to fellow fundraisers. The Internet is a significant medium for fundraisers, in terms of direct appeals, communication with donors, donor research, and education and professional development. I wrote this book to help stimulate the non-profit sector into experimenting with the Internet and learning to harness its potential.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great resource 22 Jun 2004
By A Customer
Howard Lake's book is one of the better examples of showing how a modest organisation can utilise the internet for fundraising. Written in the cutting-edge days of understanding what the internet could do, his methodical but breezy style makes for interesting reading. His honesty and directness shines through, and, if some of the references have been overshadowed by more recent events, the root of his advice is still sound. A vital book, whatever the times.

2.0 out of 5 stars Basic 27 May 2003
By A Customer
A useful starter but very basic information and probably a little behind the times. If you know nothing this might be for you, but I suspect there are better and more readable books on the market

4.0 out of 5 stars Thorough introduction 14 Dec 2004

While there are more recent texts on Internet fundraising, Lake's guide provides a suitable background on the basics. It is fairly useful, especially when read alongside other books such as Warwick's.
