the best ever 2 Aug 2002
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
A great book from Meirovitch, the father of vibrations. Like all past books in vibrations authored by Meirovitch, the present book covers every topic, but now in a state-of-art fashion. As a software application, very will written MATLAB codes are included.I think that this book is going to be the standard vibrations book in near future.

Good book, sorry binding. 1 Dec 2009
By K. Elgin - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is an excellent vibrations book compared to the offerings of other books on the subject. However, there are a couple of things to note about this book:

1.) The description claims that there are many examples in each chapter. That is simply not true if you consider 1 trivial example for each section to be "many" examples. My professor kindly reminded me that pretty pictures and examples can be found in undergraduate vibrations books. Also, the matlab code in the book is not available anywhere online or on disk. This makes using the programs rather tedious.

2.) The binding came unglued the first week I owned it which is really annoying since I dropped approximately 1 billion dollars on the thing. I would have sent it back had I not needed it.

Other than that, have fun!

Excellent 25 April 2012

Excellent book. The author explanations are very clear, detailed and easy to follow. With this book there is no need to take a course. All important subjects are treated, the only thing that I missed was a complete chapter in time integration methods.
