Chapter 2: An expanded discussion of GPS navigation. The discussion of ocean basins has been modified to include the Arctic and an independent ocean. There are new tables describing Earth's water supply and the physical characteristics of the four ocean basins. There is a new discussion of the formation of the universe, the solar system and the Earth. There is a major revision of the discussion of the geologic time scale.
Chapter 3: The discussion of the interior of the Earth and Earth layers has been completely re-written.
