Review
I've been listening to a lot of new music latley And Nico's cd is a great piece for sure. The opening track, "No time for Sadness" is a Satriesque instrumental of the first degree. I was expecting more of the same when the tone switched into an impressive hard rock lesson packed with great songs and awesome guitar parts. Overall, I'd say this cd is better than 80% of what's available on the market. The production is nice and clean even if I think bands like "Nico's Alchemy" need to be a little loose and dirty. Let it all hang out because there definitely is a very talented guitar player in Nico and this is for sure an amazing Rock album. Rockspar --Rockspar
I have to confess that when I read the influences that this band/guitarist have I was a little sceptic, you know... Deep Purple, Audioslave..Satriani? wow I thought, I must check this band out! I received the CD 3 days ago and my first impression was really good, the packaging is awesome, great graphics, booklet, lyrics and cool photos top marks for that. I decided that I wanted to give it a fair listening before writing a review "No time for sadness" is track number one, an instrumental blues opening that really made me feel 'lonely and as blue as you can be'. After 1 minute the track changes into a fast uptempo rock, Nico's guitar style is very refined a real guitar player, awesome!! "It's Enough" and "Fading Away" are real powerful heavy rock tracks with good powerful vocals. The sound and production of the album is really good. There is so much packed into this album, 4 instrumental songs including a weird and most welcomed kind of HIP HOP Drum and Base track (yes, you read it right!) which has a blues guitar on top to die for. This is a complete album that deserves many repeat listenings! I'm very happy with this purchase and I strongly reccomend it to you but only if you are a fan of Joe Satriani and Deep Purple it only has 10 tracks and I think that 12 tracks would have been better but on the other hand a great rock album. --Thomas Burgess

About the Artist
What I like in rock music is spontaneity, I don t like chopping my solos to take the best bits and glue them together, I like to play the whole solo as one take it doesn t matter how perfect what matters is what it s got, if it touches you then that s the one quotes Nico, the Rock virtuoso guitarist of Nico s Alchemy. ...Music is an alchemy...to be good it needs to transform your moods, nothing is worst than music which leaves you totally untouched AAAArgh! Interview taken from Metal Shock . Nico started playing the guitar at the age of 10, by the age of 14 he was performing live with his first band Stardust, note by note, solos and songs by the artists he loved Jimi Hendrix, Deep Purple, Rush, Jeff Beck, Black Sabbath...along with his own compositions. Nico was signed up by Videostar/BMGAriola to record 2 albums after they spotted an article written by Klaus Byron (Editor of Flash Europe). Nico s first album Born for your ears was followed up by Burned down to the wire both albums stunned his European audience and music press with his innovative guitar style and song writing skills. Nico s international recognition came 3 years later when Mike Varney who also discovered Yngwie Malmsteen, Vinnie Moore & Ritchie Kotzen quoted in Guitar world Nico is innovative and Pyrotechnical into the new rock progressive vein. From that article Nico was selected to appear on Notes On Call which included the world s finest guitar talent and was also featured in Guitar Player, Guitar for the Practicians with a combined circulation of over 500.000 guitar enthusiasts in the USA alone. Nico lived in Los Angeles for 2 years, performing live at the G.I.T. in Hollywood with drummer Frank Vegliante and with many great artists such as Paul Gilbert, Frank Gambale and Ian Gillan of Deep Purple. Nico played in most of the major Rock clubs in the City of Angels including The Gazzarri s, The Spice Club , Whisky A Go Go and many more. On returning to Europe Nico relocated to the U.K. forming his loudest, ferocious Anglo/Italian Heavy Rock Metal band called Nico s Alchemy with Candido on lead vocals, Danny Stanner on Bass and Dave Wire on drums, creating a unique blend of sound that could be described as Blackmore on steroids meets Audioslave & Pearl Jam . Storming the underground scene in the UK, Nico s Alchemy created a follow up that saw the band selling out in London s legendary venues: The Underworld, Carling Academy and the Clapham Grand. The new Album needed to come out from the UK, Fundamental Darkness capture s the energy and the fire that burns within this rock band at this moment in time where Nico expresses himself freely mixing his experiences that will project futuristic memories onto your brain s walls. 25 years of pure rock guitar superiority will make you travel back in time whilst still hearing the future. Fundamental Darkness by Dirty Dog Records Produced by Lee Dunn & Nico Tamburella. Mastered by Jon Astley (Led Zeppelin, Jeff Beck, The Who, Robert Plant).
