Excellent, funny, and brilliant. 21 Jun. 2011
By mom of three - Published on
Format: Paperback
I was not feeling well for very long time - probably since puberty- constipation, indigestion, bloating, constant battle with weight.... While trying to fix my constipation I came across the other Monastyrsky's book called Fiber Menace Fiber Menace: The Truth About the Leading Role of Fiber in Diet Failure, Constipation, Hemorrhoids, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Ulcerative Colitis, Crohn's Disease, and Colon Cancer The book was amazing - I am a scientist, so I needed to see some facts behind the words - the book was full of useful, well written information, with a lot of scientific support to back it up. This book "Fiber Menace" led me to the discovery of this book that I am reviewing. As much as I loved the Fiber Menace book, Functional Nutrition is even better. First of all , it is very funny. Second, it is in Russian, which is my preferred language. Third, since it is written for Russians, it explains even deeper and broader how to follow Monastyrsky life style.
I started following Monastyrsky diet about a year ago after I had my third baby. The difference in the way I feel is amazing. No more bloating or constipation. No more silly colds.
I highly encourage everyone to read this book - it is very educational, funny, and if you decide to follow the recommendations in this book - you will also want to write a very positive review.

Excellent book. 29 Jan. 2011

At the age of 2, I was diagnosed with Nephrotic Syndrome, and suffered from it for more than 20 years, during that time, I was on and off Prednisone that was prescribed to me when I had proteinuria, swelling, fatigue, and so on. Side effects of glucocorticoids are many and far-reaching, just to name a few of mine: shorter than average height, osteoporosis diagnosed at 25, steroid-induced muscle wasting, and a weakened immune system. Even though I was in my mid-twenties, I thought that I won't last long if I don't change anything. I started to gather information, and one day I came upon Mr. Monastyrsky's book called the Functional Nutrition. After reading just a few pages, it caught my attention as it was loaded with common sense. In just a few months of reducing carbohydrates, fiber, taking high-quality supplements, and following other recommendations found in the book I was able to put Nephrotic Syndrome into complete remission without glucocorticoids for the first time in my life, and there are no signs of the disease to this day (after nearly 4 years). I must say that this book has changed my life: I feel much better, and better yet, I don't need to take any prescription medicines. I highly recommend Mr. Monastyrsky's book.

Would be nice to see a menu for a week. Just to understand better what to eat. E. g. Is it okay to eat potatoes? Do you eat rice every morning?
