Hi
I got this on import, as I couldn't wait lol Having played the first FSW all the way through. There are alot of similarities in control and interface. There are quite a few extra components to aid your teams Alpha and Barvo. Buddy Teams, Precision Fire, Scout/recon and Bradley/vehicle command are the notable additions. Your teams can now enter some buildings and fire from elevated positons. Your teams can now interact with various objects required to complete mission goals (explosive charges/locked gates/doors) In certain missions Team leaders have free use of a laser designator to call in a limited number of air strikes to clear an area. Teams can now use fixed machine gun placements(provided the enemy is not shooting it at the time of couse..)Teams can now have a 'Fallback' position mark on the map to aid a quick retreat to safer cover. Ok that's enough of what you get, what do the 'Insurgent' enemy get? Plenty! The enemy has been beefed up considerably, is much smarter and hence more deadly than before. Gone are fixed positions and scripted enemy(Gone too helicopter recon since no 'fixed' enemy exists) to be replaced with a dynamic spawned variety, who will keep coming back to get you even if you think you've got 'em all and have past the area. They will try to out flank you, will run from grenades to better cover. They are equipped with tanks/mortars and machine guns and definately have the benefit of large numbers! Their shooting ability has been improved too. They will take you out, unless your in good cover or have the enemy 'pinned' Because the enemy spawns firefights are much more intense and nerve-racking than the first FSW as you try to out gun and out think the 'insurgents' I suppose that certain elements like precision fire/Bradley control have been added to widen the appeal of the game. Precision fire is a mixed blessing, as when in use your man is totally exposed to enemy fire. Any team member exposed for more than a few seconds WILL be shot down. The Bradley is very capable of taking out enemies and hard targets and is alot of fun to use, but you'll only use this at certain points in a mission. The other new elements add alot of variety to the game which is a game of strategy and tactics. There is always more than one way to achieve success in a mission. Graphics wise same as before, with a few tweaks to color and modeling. The Teams movement is very fluid and convincing. The sounds/audio as of FSW1 with middle-east background music helping to set the mood. There is alot of swearing and profanity but I don't think it's quite as bad as the FSW1 lol If you have got the patience to grapple with the controls for all the different elements in the game, then you will be rewarded with a very satisfying experience.
