Review

Deirdre Bounds has written a book that has substance, integrity and real insight. Read it and you may just think it is one of the best investments you ever made in yourself. – Tim Smit CBE. Businessman and founder of The Eden Project.

From the Author

Hello, I'm Deirdre Bounds - a successful entrepreneur, wife and mother of two. Life is pretty good at the moment. It wasn't always this way though! Prior to 1991 I was a lost soul, a bit of a drifter, a heavy smoker and a hard drinker.

Since 1991 I've been a student of the 12 Steps and this is why I'm writing this book: I've come to realise that the 12 steps are actually what changed my whole life in every possible way. The 12 steps have become so ingrained in my life, that without doubt it's this very same process that took me from career doldrums to becoming a self-made millionaire, and it's this same process that helped me create the happiest possible home and family life, and find real fulfilment and success in most areas of my life.

And it's not just true for me - this is a programme for living that millions of people use on a daily basis to deal with everything that life throws at us.

The 12 step programme is so much more than a way out of obsessive and compulsive behaviours. It's the most powerful `change your life' programme that exists. The root of it might be as old as the hills, but the incredible thing is that its power is not being felt by all the millions of people it could help, because outside of those with an alcohol problem or other addiction, very few people know anything about it.

The time has come to change all that. This book is designed to reveal how to change your life in ways you never thought possible, by sharing a distilled version of the most powerful change programme in existence today.

Martin Luther King famously said "I have a dream". He wasn't the first, last or only person to ever think or say it. I bet we all dream of something. Something which will enhance our lives whether it's a personal or professional aspiration perhaps. Ultimately, I reckon our dreams are a reflection of our own pursuit of what Maslow described as our quest for 'self-actualisation'.

"Fulfilled" is a brutally honest, open hearted, open minded, no rock unturned portrayal of a remarkable woman's courageous, bold and entertaining journey from rags to riches - emotionally, spiritually, physically, mentally and materially. It's a depiction of a dream becoming reality. In this book Deirdre selflessly shares with us the secret (the 7 steps) to helping us make our dream(s) come true.

If, like me, you ever think or feel "I want more out of life" then you need to do something about it. Act - buy this book now. "Fulfilled" shows you how to do precisely that. It's the best fiver you'll ever spend!

I bought the book, read it, actioned it and shared it with those I care about. My friends and colleagues are very grateful that I shared "Fulfilled" with them. My dream is now reality too.

Deirdre Bounds is living testament to what we can all achieve. Good on 'er for being such a fabulous example to us all!

Fulfilled is a story of an alcoholic who finally came to terms with her alcoholisism and in conquering it found abilities, firstly to make herself a multi million pound fortune, and secondly get involved in tv program making and give talks on the back of this achievement. The story is a great one of despair to fulfillment by following the 21 steps of alcoholic recovery, which in this book in cut down to 7 steps. I have no doubt that the book is helpful and interesting. The story of how alcoholics anonymous came to be founded is a great one. Others have observed that Dierdre tells an honest and gritty story of her alcoholism. Whilst I respect that, many autobiographies have made darker and deeper confessions and I am sure any addict would have deep and distressing stories to tell. However, the story of how the fortune was made lacks a great deal of detail of the decisions that were made, what worked and what didn't, the lucky breaks, hunches, emerging opportunities seized with optimum timing, the recruits that made it happen, the mentors and backers. So we are left then with a very useful process for recovering from addiction, distilled and modernised into seven parts. Deirdre writes beautifully and chooses her words and quotations with great care but once again this is a book that does not in any way resemble the title. It is about recovery, not fulfillment and that in itself is a worthy aim well executed. However, whilst Dierdre is now financially free and able to choose what she does to lead a fulfilled life, there is little guidance to the reader in how to emulate this. In summary, I hope this book is a forerunner to the better book that Dierdre has the talent, experience and drive to write.

This book is hot off the press; in fact I have been privileged to get a copy, as it has not reached the bookshelves yet.

Deirdre Bounds is a remarkable, down to earth person, who has a great story to tell, which will inspire many, without a doubt. Having listened to her story, and now read her first book, guaranteed to be a big seller, Fulfilled will have an impact on a lot of people if they follow the steps. Deidre has hit the headlines for building a company from an idea in a bedsit and taking it global to 35 countries, without any business experience - then selling it to a FTSE 100 company within ten years.

The book condenses the 12-step program used by AA (Alcoholics Anonymous). This is the most powerful life-changing programme in existence today, and it's helped recreate the lives of millions across the world, including Deidre herself.

Deirdre is genuine and just tells it as it is, she has a 'YES I CAN' attitude, then figures out a way to do it. She shares her 7-step program in this honest book. If you take action, you will see results!

I had heard Deirdre talk at a local women's group and what she said resonated with me. I felt that I had a lot of good things in my life but was totally stuck with some really important areas and felt unable to get myself out of the hole I felt I was in. I have read through the book in detail and am now working through the exercises. I like the way the book is written, it is set out in an easy to understand format. Prior to buying the book, I had reached a point where my brain was so full with trying to juggle all parts of my life I felt unable to retain anything and totally used and knackered! I now feel that I am getting things back into perspective. I also discovered that many of the resentments I held in my head (Deirdre talks about squatters living rent free in your brain) had in fact come from other people and were not really my resentment at all. What a relief to be able to let go of all this stuff guilt free!
A small group of my friends have got together to form a Seven Steps Support group so there is a lot of activity going on. I would totally recommend you buy the book and follow the advice given. However, remember that it is easy to read a book and do nothing. To become Fulfilled you also need to take action.
