Firstly it's important to know why I bought this compared to lots of other lens hoods out there that are much cheaper - it's simply because of the way it attaches to the lens.

All the other hoods shown to fit the HS10 from what I have seen, use the thread on the lens to connect them that's there for attaching filters, therefore you can't use filters at the same time as you're using the hood (which may or may not be a problem to you).

The Fuji hood has a different mechanism that twist-locks onto the front of the lens, leaving the inner thread still available for filters.

I've not had my HS10 long but quickly realised I would need a lens hood and just about every review I read on the camera said the same and as I do want to try using filters, I had little option but to buy the Fuji (which as everyone says, should be part of the original package when the camera is sold, not a paid for accessory).

It's shape and type of plastic used means it does seem flimsy, you feel like you'll break it as you twist it on and off (so I tend to just leave it on) and it is ridiculously expensive for what it is. So if you don't ever think you'll use filters, buy the cheaper alternatives but if you do want to use them then you don't really have much option.

If anyone knows of another make that's much cheaper and attaches the same way as the Fuji, it would be really helpful if they'd let other HS10 users know about it by leaving a note about it here (it will certainly be handy for me if/when I have to replace mine!).

The product itself does what it's designed for, however it does seem very flimsy. Add to this the exhorbitant cost for, what seems to be, just a few pounds worth of plastic and it's not a good buy.

I agree that this is way overpriced for what it is (moulded piece of plastic!), but as other reviewers have stated - if you want to use filters then you need this. It attaches to a different area of the lens barrel leaving the screw threads at the front free for filters etc. Excellent piece of kit. Loses a star because of vfm

Like all fujifilm products this lens hood works
I have used it already several times and it reduces lens flare shooting close to the sun.

Does the job. Watch the pop-up flash at wide-angle
The LH-10 lens hood comes included with the HS20 so you'll need to buy it only if you have the HS10 (or you want a spare, because it is a bit flimsy). Read more

Flimsy and unnecessary
I ordered this at the same time as my Finepix HS20 camera as other reviewers said it was useful if expensive and flimsy accessory as a lens hood was not included with the camera. Read more
