Manufacturer's Description

If you're looking for a camera that stands out from the crowd then look no further. The FinePix Z70 is everything you're after; it has a great sense of style, a very colourful character and loves to have fun. Not only do its looks impress but with handy Facebook and YouTube upload feature you can post your favourite photos online in an instant. This is a camera you'll definitely want your friends to meet!

A Camera for the Catwalk
The Z70 oozes style. Its super-slim metal body features a cool vertical sliding lens cover which acts as the on/off switch. Its neat design allows you to slip it in to your pocket or bag so it's all ready for a night out with you and your friends. The new, illuminated button layout makes accessing the camera's functions easier than ever before, especially in dark conditions.

High Resolution meets 5x Zoom
With 12MP resolution sensor you will capture photos that are true to life and rich in detail, be it days on the beach or party portraits of your pals. Inside the 20mm slim shell hides a generous Fujinon 5x zoom lens. This means you are able to zoom in and capture a wide range of photographic subjects, from landscape shots at the wide to dramatic portraits at the telephoto.

New FaceBook/YouTube Upload makes
it easier than ever to get images online

Facebook Friendly
A new Facebook/YouTube Easy Upload feature allows you to sort out in-camera what photos and videos you want to upload to the web. Simply make a memory, mark it to Facebook or YouTube using the one-touch Blog button, and your images will be filed, resized, and all ready to post online. Once you connect your camera to your computer and MyFinePix Studio software is launched*, images and videos will be instantly uploaded to the respective sites.
*Included with camera

HDTV-Compatible Photos & Video
Capture both photos and movies (720p) in HD format* and bring your memories to life. The FinePix Z70 lets you discover the impact of full-screen HDTV image display in the comfort of your home.
*Optional HD Player HDP-L1 is required to view photos and movies on HDTVs.

Digital Image Stabilisation
Nothing's more disappointing than taking a photo only to find out that it's come out blurred. Thanks to Fujifilm's effective anti-blur technology you can rest assured that image blur will be kept to a minimum. By increasing the ISO sensitivity to faster settings (i.e. ISO 1600) the FinePix Z70 can capture photos in clear, crisp detail so you don't need to worry about camera shake or subject blur ruining your photos.

Tracking AF 'locks on' to a
moving subject keeping it in focus

Tracking Auto Focus
Ideal when photographing fast moving subjects and action shots, Tracking AF will 'lock on' to moving subjects and keep them in focus. Simply half press the shutter button and Tracking AF will track and keep focus on your subject. As soon as you fully press the shutter button you will capture a photo with the subject perfectly in focus.

Intelligent Scene Detection Technology
The FinePix Z70 can detect up to six commonly photographed scenes and optimises focus, exposure and white balance to suit the scene being shot. The scenes it can recognise are: Portrait, Landscape, Night, Macro, Night Portrait, Backlit Portrait. Great photos made easy!

Take two photos of the same scene
one without flash and one with,
then choose which one you prefer

Natural Light & with Flash
Can't decide whether to use the flash or not? Choose this mode, press the shutter and automatically capture the same scene twice: once with flash and one without. Later choose one or keep both!

One-touch Movie Mode
Sometimes stills just don't do a moment justice. The Z70 features a One-touch movie button so you can easily and quickly switch from photos to movie recording. Plus, a new Movie Edit function allows you to add your own finishing touches to your footage by editing movie to make them B&W, Sepia or even by adding a backlight correction, all this in-camera.

I absolutely love this camera. Bought it at the weekend and haven't looked back. Shutter speed is super quick, the different shooting modes work really well, and it's light and slim. It's also very sturdy - on my last camera the button fell off the top (a Sony Cybershot), but on this the button is much better and inbuilt - additionally you won't have any problems with the lens zooming out and getting stuck, which often happens, as the design keeps the lens inbuilt. Highly recommend for the price.

the camera came in two days, no damage to the box.

i'm very happy now i can take photos again.

i don't like the retracting lens cameras so this one is the bee's knees.

small, compact, 12MP res and Phyisical buttons are a must in my opinion; what more do you need.

facebook upload feature sounds like a great idea, i don't know yet how well it works but it can take ages normally.

I got this camera because I didn't get on with my last Fujifilm camera. Plus it's purple, my fave colour! Anyway, its a great little camera and is the kind without the telescopic zoom lense, which is useful since I broke that on a camera I had years ago (got excited because there was more snow than I'd seen in my entire life and I slipped and fell, breaking the telescopic camera lense) and since then I've had two more cameras, this one and the one before.
What I like about this camera is that the settings on it kick in automatically. It goes into macro if you're a certain length away from an object, into night setting if the room is dark (although this is annoying and makes the picture grainy) and can detect a person's face or if it is taking a portrait photo of someone.
The video camera on it is good quality, when I upload these videos to YouTube, they retain the quality. It is also easy to use. They have simplified all the functions on this camera from the two previous Finepix I've owned. The instruction manual it comes with isn't that good but to be honest, the camera is easy to work out. Also I like the battery charger. You just take out the battery pack, put it in the charger and plug the charger in since it has a plug built onto it.

The thing I really hate about this camera is the battery life. I had a Finepix F10 and that was the best camera I've owned. It was also the one I broke. My cameras since then have not had such good batteries. The battery drains far too quickly and this Finepix Z70 has the fastest draining battery of any camera I've had. My F10 lasted for weeks of use whereas this one lasts a few weeks with me not using it so much and the battery drains faster. It seems the newer the camera model, the worse the battery life before it needs recharging again.

Our canon Ixus (superb camera) packed in while on a short break in London so we urgently needed a replacement,

We usually do loads of research before buying anything, but did not get the chance here. After viewing a few cameras in a the nearby photography shop, the high def video facility swung it for us. we paid £120 for this in Oxford street, in hindsight way too much, but that is the price for not being able to do the market reserch before buying.

Anyway, I am an experienced photographer with a professional SLR as my main camera, but everyone who has seen these photos is disappointed with the results from the Fuji finefix Z70. ALL the shots are over exposed ( we were not just using the auto setting either). The focus is rubbish with a lot of the shots not useable at all, which is really annoying especially as this was a family trip. The shots that are in focus are way over exposed ( at least ½ stop and at times more than that). The colours are washed out and the noise on the shots is unbelievably bad, even in good light.

The camera is 12mp but to be honest the photos resemble ones taken from a mobile phone, yes they are that bad. I am trying to contact Fuji, but you can't e mail them, however judging by other reviews this is not a one off problem. We are disappointed as Fuji have a great name, hopefully we can get this camera replaced for a different one.

Have contacted Fuji this morning and they were quite frankly no use whatsoever and appeared unconcerned the the problems with their product

Needed a small compact camera which was not that expensive to take on holiday, which I'm going on tomorrow. Tried the camera out on a trip, very pleased with the pictures. Not sure on the life of the battery so brought a second rechargeable battery just in case the first one does not last, I can change it over there and then and won't miss out on not taking pictures.

I had read the reviews by previous puchasers of this camera and was a bit worried that I was buying a pig in a poke but my worries appear to be unjustified so far.The camera packs a big punch- I'm no pro, but compared with digital cameras I've owned before (including my first - a Fiji MX1500 1.5 Mpixel in 2000) it's a wee beauty. So far the battery life complaints have been unfounded- maybe faults with charging or dodgy batteries, and I'm more than happy with both the still photos and videos.
All in all I think it's great camera for the price. (The MX 1500 in 2000 cost £400 but did some great shots in Tibet- good optics rather than many pixels me thinks!)
