Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

FinePix Z1 Zoom, a super-slim compact digital camera that boasts 5.1 megapixels, 3x optical zoom and a mammoth 2.5 inch LCD monitor, inside an aluminium body barely bigger than a credit card.

The FinePix Z1 Zoom showcases a variety of Fujifilm's inventive construction techniques that help the camera achieve its sleek, seamless casing and miniature dimensions. The zoom lens has a special refractive, non-extending design that delivers 3x optical reach without any visible movement on the Z1 Zoom's flat exterior.

The pocket-sized FinePix Z1 Zoom houses a fifth generation version of Fujifilm's Super CCD HR sensor, delivering superb images even in low light conditions, making it the ideal pocket companion for concerts or nights out. Its five megapixel processing power and low noise ISO 64-800 sensitivity range also means that large reprints can be developed without loss of image clarity or detail.

With its ergonomic, single-shell casing available in several colours, the FinePix Z1 Zoom promises to appeal to those with an eye for beautiful design. Simply slide back the front panel, and the camera is powered up and ready for action in a super-fast 0.6 seconds.

Despite its diminutive build, the FinePix Z1 Zoom sports a huge 2.5 inch LCD screen that is the largest in the Fujifilm range, making it ideal for viewing and editing images while out and about. Importantly for this type of 'take-everywhere' camera, the glass screen is also specially toughened, which makes it more than a match for the harsh environment of the pocket or handbag.

Remarkably for a camera of these dimensions, the FinePix Z1 Zoom also includes a TV-quality movie function, capable of capturing 30 frames per second, VGA video with sound. Furthermore, the large LCD screen makes it easy to view movies and share the action without needing to use a TV screen.

A Very Nice Camera 20 Aug 2005
I just bought this camera & I love it. I was torn between this and the slightly larger 6mp F10. I can't comment on comparisons between this and other digital cameras but I will just say that so far I have only used the highest quality setting and the results have been excellant.when I plugged the camera into my Mac iPhoto automatically recognised it so I haven't bothered with the software that came bundled with the camera. I would definately recommend this camera to anybody who wants a good point & shooter that can easily fit in your pocket & has a nice large LCD display. I would also suggest trying it out in a shop before purchasing it as some people may find that it is too small & fiddly for them.

I bought this Z1 at a cheap price from Amazon because I wanted a small digicam to 'point and shoot'. It's Ok but the image quality - resolution - is not good. I have had problems getting sharp images with it. It IS possible providing that you use the 'sport' setting a high ISO so that the camera sets a fast shutter speed, but the other settings are too slow and give fuzzy images. I have a canon A620 and the images on the canon are way superior - but of course its not a pocket camera.

The good thing about this Z1 is the 640 x 480 movie setting - a 1 GB xD card gives 15 mins of quite good video - just remember to half press the shutter button to focus first !

In short - the z1 has problems producing good images - you can get better cameras for the price. If you want a camera to carry in your pocket for those 'impromptue SNAPS' then the Z1 is fine.

If you want quality images and aren't bothered about the camera size , get a Canon A620 or A700 - these are suberb cameras.

The Z1 movie capture is good though for such a small camera - it may be worth buying for this alone , but don't expect good resolution still images for 8 x 10 prints - you won't get them with the Z1 which is a 'holiday snaps' camera in reality.

I bought this camera for my wife for Xmas 2005 along with an HP photo printer. What a superb camera. Absolutely stunning photos. The camera is slim but has an excellent LCD screen and the images when displayed on her Sony Vaio laptop are amazing. Anyone who says this camera doesnt take great photos must have a problem with theirs. There is no comparison with my Sony DSC-P10 which is coming up for replacement. Now you can also get this camera for £140. What more can I say. Amazon here I come.
