Fujifilm FinePix XP50 – Takes everything life can throw at it

The FinePix XP50 is a feature packed camera, built to with-stand tough, family-holiday conditions. Whether the kids are on the beach, in the pool or just running around, the XP50 will stick with them, come rain or shin. As well as being super-durable, the XP50 features a core specification including a 14 megapixel FSI-CMOS sensor, a 5x Fujinon optical zoom lens, a 2.7 inch LCD screen, waterproof to 5 metres, freezeproof to -10°, dustproof and shockproof to 1.5m. What's more with features such as Full 1080p movies, Motion Panorama 360, CMOS Shift image stabiliser and Tracking Auto Focus, mums and dads can rest assured that their holiday memories are in safe hands.

Fujifilm XP50
Image stabilisation helps you to get blur-free shots every time.

Maximising durability hasn't forced compromised image quality. The FinePix XP50 boasts a 14 megapixel CMOS sensor and a new image processor for impressive pictures. ISO sensitivity up to 3200 and CMOS Shift Image Stabilisation ensures that users' shots remain crisp and sharply focused, even when capturing pictures in low-light environments. In addition to high-resolution 14 megapixel stills, the FinePix XP50 can capture 1080p HD movies at 30fps for super-smooth playback with the new processor helping to minimise distortion.

Water-repellent lens coating

It's not just the camera's tough casing that's built to survive: the lens also has a special water repellent coating to help minimise water droplets that can obscure or blur images. Just shake the water off the lens and go right on shooting.

Fujifilm XP50
The LCD screen has an anti-reflection coating for excellent visibility even in bright sunlight. Click here for a larger image.
5x Optical Zoom

A 5x wide-angle optical zoom (28-140mm equivalent to a 35mm camera) gives plenty of picture taking versatility, plus the 9cm minimum focus distance lets photographers fill the frame with detail and vibrant colour.

Ready for action

As well as the camera's durability, several other features make the FinePix XP50 the partner for action-filled adventures or extreme holidays. On the back of the camera, the super-bright 2.7-inch LCD is easy to view even on a sunlit beach. In addition to the improved brightness levels a unique Anti Reflection Coating protects the LCD screen. This reduces distracting reflections, which can prevent the composition of images or obscure the user's view when playing back stills and movies.

A double lock on the access hatch keeps the memory card, battery, USB and mini HDMI cable connection ports safely protected from water, dust or dirt.

Fujifilm XP50
Capture movies in Full 1080p HD, even underwater.

Available in black, blue, green, orange and silver, the FinePix XP50's exterior has also been updated for both a more stylish appearance and an improved, easy to hold surface that make it easy for users to maintain control over the camera's features even when both the camera and user are underwater.

HD movies

In addition to high-resolution 14 megapixel stills, the FinePix XP50 can capture 1080p HD movie at 30fps for super-smooth playback with the new processor helping to minimise distortion.

This little camera produced some fantastic underwater shots, it was light and easy to use. Only thing it could do with is neck strap rather than a wrist strap for underwater.

Got this for snorkeling in Egypt and was not disappointed. Really clear photos and videos underwater. Easy to use and no sign of water ingress when opened. Good battery life. BE AWARE THE ZOOM CONTROL IS FLIMSY AND BROKE ON UNIT after approx 16 months. There must be a better zoom control that can be used for this camera. Disappointed with Fuji customer service.

What a camera! i have had this camera for a few weeks and have put it through the mill and back. there is nothing it cant do. its been on holiday, in the sea, pool, been to a paint party, been kicked through the sand and the pictures just are amazing and the camera just has a quick rinse in the sink and then it ready to go for another day.
Cant wait to use it on the next adventure.

Was given this at Christmas time as I dropped my last camera, this being shock proof and dust proof ideal as we live by the beach and have small kids. It seems pretty robust, and I was reasonably happy with it until yesterday when it leaked water in (after only minimal use under water). Also agree with other reviews that picture quality is not great at times and shutter delay can be very frustrating.

So many options in the mode settings, particularly in the underwater which was my primary interest in this camera, great footage of the kids on their first real holiday.

This is a great camera to take fishing with me. Espeacially with the wet weather we seem to get. I can reccomend this camera to any one who has outside hobbies.

I'd advise looking elsewhere if underwater pics are important in any way - I have had two good trips to good coral reefs end up with no pics to take back home because very early on my Fuji "fine"pix let water in somehow and died. Response from the Fuji people was not helpful, after I sent them the camera the first time - something like "Water has gotten into the camera - no good now, throw it away." I don't know if other underwater cameras perform or last better or not, but I'll not be trusting my trips to a Fuji any more. (if you're wondering why I bought a second one after the first instance, I am too - the first one did work good for a few trips before it got flooded and died, and when I read the manual fine print, it said the camera should have maintanance once a year, mainly changing the seals, which I had not done - it was also very inexpensive, and I thought if the second one laster a year also, it would be alright - unfortunately, the second one died on its second snorkelling trip, about 8 months after purchase. Fool me twice, shame on me.
