Colour Name:Blue|Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
This camera is a good all rounder which will comfortably fit in any pocket, and takes presentable pictures very easily, but the price point at time of writing is not far below the hybrid range. The wireless transfer and shock/waterproof functionality seems to add measurable cost to the camera, so you'd have to feel these are a priority for you.

All cameras can take great photos in sunny outdoor settings, the challenges occur when you break from this. Indoors, the camera has fairly average shots and struggles in under lit rooms, similar to how you would expect a mobile phone cam to operate. However, it does have a trick up its sleeve, one "pro low light" mode, which can seemingly take multiple shots in low light and stitch (like layering paint to get a brighter finish) them to make a clear photo. It even works without blurring when the targets move significantly, like animals and children. Very Impressive! The flash mode is not great. You are better off using the mode mentioned above. Image quality: it's nothing to complain about, but nothing to write home about either.

There are a whole host of the pre-set style modes for taking pictures, like flowers, party, some interesting looking underwater modes, but an auto mode lets the camera decide which mode to use. Mostly it does this well. Face detection is hit and miss, and doesn't add anything obvious to a photo as far as I can see. Some clever self timer modes, like waiting until 2 or more people are in the scene before taking a shot sound great, but I couldn't get them working reliably.

One of the big features of this camera is its ruggedness.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great fun in the water 6 Mar 2013
Colour Name:Orange|Amazon Verified Purchase
Bought this for snorkelling in the Maldives recently, it worked really well and I had so much fun taking underwater photos and films of all the fish and also taking photos of friends whilst swimming in the sea and in the pool. The catches were a bit stiff after being underwater but there was no problem with leakage. I really love this rugged little camera.

1.0 out of 5 stars It wasn't waterproof 29 Jan 2013
Colour Name:Blue|Amazon Verified Purchase
I brought this camera to go with my familyto centre parcs and on the first time in the pool it leaked and has not worked since. Despite my trying to dry it out. I am thouroughly disappointed with it and it is a shame as it sounded so promising.

Not a good buy on any level then if you can't trust it not to break

By It's Only Me TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Colour Name:Blue|Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
Hard working, tough little compact offering 5X zoom and several safety features above and beyond what you'd normally expect:-

Waterproof to 10m/33ft and they've used a coating on the camera lens to prevent drops of water from building up and spoiling the shot.
Freeze proof to -10c/14f.
Dustproof.
Shockproof 2m/6.6 feet.
There's a battery charger included and you can choose to charge the battery in or out of the camera.

I've used the FinePix for a few months and I've taken it into the sea on a family holiday, thrown it around on the beach, allowed my grandkids to use it, without too much fear of breakage if they drop it, and it's still working exactly as it should though I have to be honest and say that I've had some of the worse quality images from the FinePix than from any of my other cameras. It does have a habit of taking grainy, blurred snaps no matter how much I tweek the software and particularly struggles with indoor photography under artificial lighting.

However; I suppose my biggest negative would have to be that the FinePix is really a bit of a gimmick. It allows you to process images from your phone to the internet via a wireless facility in the camera. Couldn't be any more simple to do; download a Fuji app onto your phone, take a photo, place camera near phone, press a button and the image appears on your phone within seconds ready for you to send directly to the internet. Sounds great but; at the moment you can only process one image at a time through the wireless facility. Multiple images are processed much faster if you do it the traditional way, USB cable from camera to PC, saves stacks of time and can be done with a much cheaper, waterproof camera without a wireless facility.

That's really all I have to say.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great hen do camera 25 Oct 2012
Colour Name:Orange
I bought this camera for a holiday, but I ended up taking it on my friend's hen do first! It got dunked in a pitcher of cocktail and bounced (unintentionally) on the dance floor and still lived to tell the tale! It was also great on our holiday too, we went snorkeling and have now got some great turtle pics to look back on!

Fine bit of equipment, solidly construted with well laid out controls. Images tend to be noisy at high ISO, but still gives decent quality photos.

1.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT PURCHASE THIS WATERPROOF CAMERA 13 Jun 2013
By Beebs
Colour Name:Blue
I purchased this product to take on a one in a life time holiday to the Maldives. I arrived at this beautiful Island and could not wait to get on my snorkeling kit and get going. I checked my camera was set up and off I went photographing the most beautiful fish you could ever hope to see. I finished using the camera and dried it off and placed it back in its case. Later on in the day I went to use it again however, when I tried to switch it on, it shut itself down. When I got back to the hotel, I placed it on charge. The following morning I unplugged it from the charger and tried to switch it on. The button seemed very stiff and would not switch on. I then opened the camera where the memory card and battery were stored and could see immediately that there had been water ingress. This totally ruined my holiday as I lost the pictures I had taken and prevented me from taking any more. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS CAMERA
