Manufacturer's Description

The ultimate compact camera for the most demanding shooting conditions

Introducing the FinePix XP150, redefining new standards for all-weather digital compacts, it is the ultimate camera for anyone who lives for the great outdoors, and wants to be able to document their exploits every step of the way. Whether climbing mountains or diving in oceans the FinePix XP150 has what it takes to deliver high quality stills and movies whatever the shooting conditions.

Built to last

The solid build, rubberised coating and riveted metal handgrip makes this the toughest FinePix yet. Underwater photographers can keep on shooting to depths of 10m with the FinePix XP150, whereas walkers, climbers and mountain bikers will benefit from the camera's increased shock proofing capabilities that mean it can survive a drop from up to 2m. If you like to shoot in the coldest of climates, the FinePix XP150 will keep functioning all the way down to -10°C. Plus dust and sand are no match for the camera either, thanks to its extensive weather seals in all the important places. What's more, the zoom lens comes with a water repellent coating to prevent water droplets spoiling your shots and even the battery/memory cover comes with a new double lock for ultimate protection from the elements. In short, whatever your active lifestyle throws at the FinePix XP150, it'll keep on coming back for more.

Advanced GPS functionality

Thanks to the FinePix XP150's high sensitivity GPS antenna it's now quicker and easier to pinpoint your location, no matter where you are in the world. If you're moving around and taking pictures, the FinePix XP150 will track your movements and show the route on the LCD. Alternatively, just wait until you get to a computer and create a pictorial map of the locations visited using the included MyFinePix Studio software.

The GPS functionality doesn't end there. With electronic compass and Photo Navigation functions, users can ascertain the direction in which they're shooting, their altitude and the direction and distance to a previous location. The latter is an easy way to find your way back to a photogenic location, a wonderful beach or even a great restaurant!

The new bright 2.7-inch LCD display features an anti-reflection coating that makes it easy to compose images, even when you're in bright sunshine on the beach.

The FinePix XP150 also offers CMOS sensor shift image stabilisation to reduce camera shake, and delivers a wide ISO range from 100 to 3200. Couple this to a wide range of shooting modes plus continuous shooting at up to an impressive 10fps and you'll soon realise what a tough customer the FinePix XP150 is.

Appealing to the budding movie maker, the FinePix XP150 offers Full 1080p HD movie capture at 30fps and with the underwater movie function, you can capture life under the waves in superb quality. Watching your efforts back on an HD ready TV is simple too, thanks to the micro HDMI connection that allows a quick, simple hook-up for instant playback.

Long lasting performance

The FinePix XP150 owners aren't likely to be the sort of people who are within easy reach of mains electricity, which is why the camera is fitted with an NP-50A rechargeable battery, enabling you to capture a massive 300 pictures per charge.

We bought this simple 'point-and-shoot' camera last summer (2012) as something to capture a few holiday pics with whilst on holiday in France. In particular, we planned to canoe along the Ardeche River and wanted something we could comfortably operate one-handed as we splashed and bobbed downstream, as my 'main camera' (Fujifilm S5000, many years old...) really needs both hands to hold it steady and certainly would not survive a dunk in the water.

After picking up and holding a variety of waterproof 'point-and-shoot' type cameras in our local John Lewis store, this felt the best. Snug in my right hand, with the hand strap securely looped around my wrist, the Fujifilm XP150 can be switched on, the view framed and zoomed in on, and snapped for posterity in a jiffy. Meanwhile your left hand is free to grip on to something else; canoe, dog lead, bicycle handle bar etc.

Picture quality doesn't disappoint. The lens has a wide-angled feel to it and it captures a lot of the peripheral view. GPS tagged also. It has the option to record HD 1080p video, but we don't use this feature.

We thought we would only use it the once taking holiday pics in the sea, or on a river, but I have it tucked away with me all the time these days. Shoved in a pocket when my wife and I go walking the dog mostly, or when I'm out cycling. Would also recommend a 'gorilla grip' tripod. I've hardly used my main camera since.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good camera and value for the price 11 Aug 2012
Colour Name:Blue
I purchased this camera as the specifications appeared to suit our family's picture taking requirements. It is a sturdy camera that can withstand water and impact. I love the fact that it takes good underwater shots. It is lacking in clarity for other pictures, and I found the Scene Recognition to take too long in determining the right focus. I was disappointed when bringing the camera to special occasions where I wanted the pictures to be captured with clarity, but this camera is suitable for everyday use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent purchase 4 Jun 2012
Colour Name:Blue|Verified Purchase
Very pleased with the camera. Excellent sharp, pictures colours true to life. Have already dropped the camera by mistake and it was fine. However you need to be careful not to put your finger ove the lens like I have done a few times. It's easy to forget the lens is in the corner of the camera.

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing underwater function - now leaking 15 Jun 2014
Colour Name:Silver|Verified Purchase
We purchased this in 2012 for the sole reason that it was waterproof and shockproof. Obviously the waterproof function is rarely used so it has unfortunately taken 2 years to find out that the camera leaks. After returning from a recent holiday, the opening catches have become corroded and also the inside parts are starting to corrode. I have contacted Amazon and hope to hear a reply. Just want a replacement because it's a good camera other than this, Just won't bother to use underwater again.

Bought specifically for use when snorkelling on holidays. Was OK on the first two trips but now leaks so is completely useless.

Brilliant camera, very solid. It's obviously a little bigger than a normal digital camera but with its specs it's definitely worth it.
