Other reviewers have said it all on the quality of the card. This review invites users to look at the small print somewhere at the back of the manual for your camera.

I was in the process of loading my photos into my PC and decided to take the opportunity to tidy up my card, deleting files that I no longer needed. I put the card back into the camera to be told that the camera didn't think the card was initialised. I had to reformat the card. I did so in the camera, took some test shots and put the card back in to the reader - to be told that my PC didn't recognise it. Back into the camera, to be told the card wasn't initialised... Looking at the small print at around page 60 of my Finepix 410 manual, I discovered that all editing of the card should be done through the camera, not the PC, as it risks corrupting the card. Too late for me. I've discovered that the card can still be used by plugging the camera directly into the PC (rather than using a card reader) but this really negates the advantages of having such a small memory card in the first place.

I'm new to the world of digital photography, so perhaps it's just my naivety that's to blame. But a clearer word up front would have saved a lot of trouble. Full marks to the card, minus one mark for the trouble caused by having insufficiently clear advice in the instruction manual.

This thumbnail sized card does exactly what it says. And with so much memory for so few pounds, those big RAW format images become viable.

However, this is a type M/H card, which means that it uses a funky but slightly different compression method to give more byte for the buck. So there are some compatibility issues with older Fuji cameras.

For FujiFilm's online Fuji camera compatibility chart, I recommend that you visit www.fujifilm.co.uk/media/xdtypem to make sure that this card will be okay for your camera.

Otherwise 5 stars (and five more stars for Amazon's free delivery)

    XD CARD 512mb 11 Nov 2004
Great Value. No more worries of running out of space for photos as this stores 1091 photos at 1m pixel, 811 photos at 2m pixel, 659 photos at 3m pixel and 339 photos at 6m pixel or 15 minutes of video on my Fuji Finepix 610.

    Excellent!
    Excellent value for money.
The cameras should ship with 512MB as a minimum in that day and age.
