Product Description

Product Description

The Fuji 16 MB SmartMedia Card is a digital storage device that can be used for any digital information. Most commonly it is used in digital cameras for storage of images, though a range of other devices, such as PDAs and MP3 players also take SmartMedia cards. There are a variety of solid-state memory formats available currently, so it is important to check which format your device supports before investing in a memory card.

Fujifilm's reusable SmartMedia cards are as tiny as a postage stamp and very easy to use. SmartMedia also has the benefit of being both a durable and affordable format. SmartMedia is a solid-state storage device and therefore if kept away from strong magnetic fields, radiation sources and anything that could bend or melt the device the information will remain intact. This makes SmartMedia a very safe and compact way to archive your very important data. It can be rewritten over 250,000 times. The number of pictures that will fit on a 16 MB card will vary according to the resolution of the camera and the compression algorithms used. To offer a guide, on a sample Fuji MX2700 2.3 super megapixel digital camera you can fit 71 images in basic mode, 36 images in normal mode and 18 images in fine mode.

Over priced and not worth the money - There are other makes of card available, which are a lot cheaper and just as reliable - like the Viking brand. With this card, you are paying for the name, nothing more.

Steer well clear of this item, save your money and get another brand.

Buy bigger capacity 22 Nov 2001
By A Customer
You are paying for the brand. You can get four times the capacity for a few extra pounds(on this site).
Also a previous reviewer said that you had to go to Japan to get 128mb capacity , BUT it is available on this site also (different brand)

The 16MB Smart Media Card is a great introduction to this form of data storage and the world of digital cameras. It is sufficient to hold 50 normal quality images, and has the obvious advantage that you can keep deleting unwanted pictures until you are ready to download. In comparison to larger capacity cards the 16MB card has the definite advantage of price, especially for those on a budget, but if it's storage capacity you are after then this might not be the one for you. In the UK there are 32MB and 64MB routinely available, and if you are prepared to travel a little further (i.e. Japan) you can buy a 128MB card. Having said that, for convenience, price and a great introduction to digital cameras you can't go wrong with this product- enjoy!
