2.0 out of 5 stars A Greek oddity 12 Aug 2010
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
At the end of her holiday in Greece, Patricia's (Betty Verges) parents give her the plane ticket back to Munich but instead of going home she gives the ticket away and then goes backpacking around Greece without telling anyone of her plans. She does just about everything that a vulnerable girl should not do; she accepts lifts from unsavoury men in cars; teases everyone she meets by taking her clothes off; and shacks up with anyone she fancies. This is hardly the recommended method of vacationing, but this is supposed to be a comedy of sorts, so that's all right then, isn't it?

Siggi Gotz directed this bit of soft core fluff and the use of the Greek islands gives us some fine views of the location. Also giving us some fine views is Betty Verges who disrobes regularly without qualm or quibble. Fans of Olivia Pascal will be disappointed because despite being given star status she only has a few minutes of screen time at well over the half-time mark.

On the technical front, the quality of the DVD leaves a lot to be desired. The film looks to have been taken directly from an NTSC edition and then encoded for multi-region viewing. There are some screen shots for extras. My advice is to rent a copy before deciding whether or not to buy.

3.0 out of 5 stars Youthful Sex Odyssey 22 Feb 2012
By Ramm - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD
"The Fruit Is Ripe" is a fine little piece of, I would assume, 70's or 80's vintage Euro Sexploitation (there was no date anywhere on the packaging). In the simple storyline: a young girl, living in Greece, is just leaving her well to do parents (who seem too preoccupied with their own lives to really care what she is doing) for college in Munich. However, at the airport she has a change of mind and gives her ticket away and heads back out the door and accepts a ride from the first person who offers her one. Through the rest of the flik we follow the girl's adventures, and misadventures, as she hitches her way around Greece via automobile and boat - experiencing her first tastes of sex and love. Fortunately for the viewer, the attractive lead actress (who, incidentaly, is not the girl pictured on the DVD box cover!) has a 'European' attitude about nudity and spends much of the movie with (at least) her top off. As she makes her way around she encounters some jerks and some nice guys and sort of falls in love and that's pretty much 'it'. Definitely the principle plus for the film is the copious amount of female nudity & love making scenes amidst beautiful Greek locales - lightweight, wholesome sex - this one is an easy and enjoyable watch. As a footnote: It might be noted that the hitch-hiking honey on the box cover is actually German soft core diva Olivia Pascal who appears in an, all too brief, sequence in the film as a model doing a nude photo-shoot at the beach. Ms Pascal is a real knock-out and (arguably) did her best work in her premier film "Vanessa" where her 'charms' are fully utilized as the principle actress - way hotter than 'Ripe Fruit' - check it out!

3.0 out of 5 stars Snotty Girl 29 Nov 2011
By BoBoNeri - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD
1970's free love soft core. Total of two naked girls - ah maybe three. Like them small and perky, sweet, this is a good one. Shrubbery is under control, but still shrubbery - dude remember this is the 70's. Oh, there's one naked guy - 'oh that's a small one, let's see what I can do giggle giggle giggle - oh that's a big one now.' But no in and out shown, no close ups, no real kitty cats either.

Gotta go sound off on this one. She's a real bee atch that wants to just do what she wants to do.

Oh the story, yeah there's sort of a story. Mom and Dad are rich, send chicky daughter to Munich for the summer. She gets all crazy at the airport with a couple that are saying good bye. She hands over her ticket to the dude so the couple can love each other. So cool, so cool, so 70's no security.

Leaves the airport and gets picked up by a hubby saying good bye to his wife, she's off to someplace, but no ticket for him to go (so he can jo at home all week). No this guy is a dirty dog and wants perky breasted chicky for himself. She strips down at his pool, he gets all 70's with his moves. She just wants to boink him, he wants to be cool. Wifey shows up - she missed her plane - and she rats him out.

Now she's on her carefree summer of love with all kinds of guys she picks up. Mostly she messes with the guys. Until she meets mister handsome, he's got a big one, I wanna be with him guy. But he doesn't want her. So she goes off with a free loving couple that try a threesome with her. She's not into it, just wants big one guy. Oh sorry, she sees little one guy in the bathtub before that and makes him big one guy too.

Yeah, get it, the story is pretty useless. She's thin. She has nice perky ones. A really nice butt. And she's kind of cute. All in, maybe 20 minutes of her body for viewing. Not bad.

If you don't like shrubbery and bee atches and small perky ones - well go someplace else, this is a crummy film for that. Just wish she didn't have all the attitude, it would be good other wise.

5.0 out of 5 stars Summer Lovers 3 Mar 2009
By James Walters - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD
This movie reminded me alot of Summer Lovers'. This girl is on her quest to find out about life and love. It is fun to tag along. This girl is truely beautiful. You'll find yourself admiring her at times and then scorning her as she does the stupid things in life we do.
Fun movie, beautiful landscapes.
