Product Description

Frontline Cat and Kitten Spot On Flea Treatments

Frontline Spot On has become a trusted household name in the fight against fleas on our domesticated friends. Most cats will have experienced fleas at some point in their lives, causing unnecessary irritation for our feline companions. Frontlines' active ingredient; Fipronil, is a veterinary strength chemical which kills fleas and will also fight against ticks and biting lice.

Regular use of Frontline will help you keep your pet happy, healthy and comfortable. A quick application on to the back of your pets neck will allow the treatment to dissolve in the skin and coat and cover your whole pets surface within a day. Excess chemical is stored in your pets natural oil glands. Natural oil secretions made by your pets body will then keep repeating the treatment for up to two months.

Frontline is an easy to administer external flea treatment that starts to kill fleas immediately. The nature of Frontline Spot On Cat means it does not need to go into your cats blood stream. This makes it suitable for use on pregnant cats. Frontline can be used on kittens once they reach 8 weeks old, providing they meet at least the 1Kg minimum weight for the pack.

Frontline Cat Spot On Facts:

  • Kills at least 98% of fleas within 24 hours
  • Effective against fleas for around 5 weeks after treatment
  • Effective against ticks for around a month after treatment
  • Lice infestations are under control within 48 hours

Suitable For:

  • Treating Fleas
  • Preventing Fleas, Ticks and Lice
  • Use on cats over 1kg
  • Kittens over 8 weeks and over 1Kg
  • Use on pregnant cats

3.0 out of 5 stars Can fleas become immune to frontline?? 25 Feb 2011
By Mike
I am putting this feedback up having had a long battle with fleas with a cat that brought them with her as a kitten when we bought her.

After 18 months of carefully applying Frontline at no more than 3 week intervals and also using a whole range of other sprays, smoke bombs, hoovering etc around the house, it finally started to occur to us that although the hoovering and sprays etc were reducing the numbers a little, the Frontline was not having any effect - to the point that after 24 hours, 48 hours, 1 week, 3 weeks etc after applying it there was no apparent reduction in the number of fleas on the cat. I was combing her head to toe every day and there was simply no reduction - 20-40 fleas each day regardless of when the Frontline was applied.

The cat does not go out of the house (urban location, her choice, doesn't seem very interested in the concrete yard outside) and there are no other animals in the house so there is absolutely no way there is an external source of fleas.

Having read that it was not possible for fleas to be immune to Frontline, we persevered, but finally two weeks ago concluded that there must be an immunity.

I have now obtained another, very similar product which can be bought online from the USA or Australia at approximately the same price as Frontline. I won't identify the brand, its not that difficult to work out, and I don't wish for this review to be mistaken for a marketing ploy. It has a different active ingredient but is applied exactly the same way. Two weeks on, I have been combing her every day but have yet to find a single flea.

5.0 out of 5 stars Frontline Cat Spot On 6 Pack (NFA-VPS) 1 Jan 2009
By Sarah
Superb product. Effective at preventing and also getting rid of fleas/ticks. Do not be bought in by the products you can buy at supermarkets; the strenght of these is much weaker and in my experience these prove to be inadequate in prevention or removal of fleas. Frontline is 100% effective and I use nothing else on my cats.

4.0 out of 5 stars Frontline Cat 26 July 2009
By S. Thomas #1 HALL OF FAME TOP 10 REVIEWER
This product comes in a three or six pipette pack; the six pipette pack tends to be slightly better value for money. It is fairly effective at flea and tick prevention (much better than powders or sprays) and requires application once each month to the back of the cat's neck. My cats tend to race around the house for about an hour after each application, so I keep them in the house until they are calm again.

It is important to note that Frontline is different to Frontline Combo; Frontline only treats the animal whereas Frontline Combo (only available from the vet or the internet with a vet's prescription) also treats the house. I have successfully used Frontline one month then Frontline Combo the next, alternating treatments and find that this is an effective means of controlling fleas whilst being cost-effective as the Combo version is more expensive.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cheap. 23 Jan 2009
By Mence
Bought it a while ago, but i remember it being significantly cheaper than buying off pets at home or the vets. 6 pack is really convenient when you have 2 or 3 cats because it means it will last you 2/3 months, Rather than buying them seperately each month :)

1.0 out of 5 stars Not so good any more 4 July 2011
I've used Frontline on my 2 cats for years, but it now seems ineffective. Are fleas and ticks becoming immune to it? I don't know, but it seems that way to me, and many reports on Gooogle from other users seem to bear this out. Whatever, I won't be buying it again.

1.0 out of 5 stars Waste of money 15 May 2011
Having bought packets and packets of Frontline for my two cats, with fleas persisting, I gave up and went to the vet, who advised me that Frontline is not the same as Frontline Combo. I since bought Frontline Combo. Not impressed with either product, frankly. I know that the flea/egg/larvae cycle is a nightmare to break but this is getting ridiculous. Have just ordered an ionic flea brush out of desperation to try anything to get rid of fleas. Am waiting for this to be delivered and will post a review accordingly. Not sure if there is any product out there that actually works in the flea battle.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not so good 6 April 2011
By NCO
I have used frontline for cats regularly on my five cats. I missed treatments during the winter months, but in March found flea droppings on the cats. Despite two treatments four weeks apart the cats all have fleas remaining on them. This product does not work for me as well as it used to.

2.0 out of 5 stars Frontline Flea drops 27 Aug 2010
I've been using this product for 3 months without any problems, however, after the last lot I'm going to use something else.

My cat had fleas 2 weeks after applying the drops. His fur fell out where I had applied it and his skin became itchy and scaly. Not good. I have since found out that Frontline is no longer the top flea product and it's best to go to your vet instead.
