Product Description

FRONTLINE Spot On is a treatment for Cats that provides long-lasting protection against fleas and ticks, and controls biting lice. FRONTLINE Spot On Cat can be used in kittens from 8 weeks of age and weighing at least 1kg. It is used for the treatment and prevention of infestations by fleas (Ctenocephalides spp.), ticks (Rhipicephalus spp., Dermacentor spp. and Ixodes spp.) in Cats, and as part of a treatment strategy for Flea Allergy Dermatitis, where this has been previously diagnosed by a veterinary surgeon. The product controls infestations with Felicola subrostratus biting lice on Cats. FRONTLINE Spot On acts by direct contact with parasites and not via your pees bloodstream. It kills fleas within 24 hours without requiring them to bite your pet. 1. FRONTLINE Spot On is applied externally to your pees skin on the back of the neck. 2. The active ingredient, fipronil, quickly dissolves into the natural oils of your pees skin and coat, dispersing over the entire body surface within 24 hours and concentrating in the sebaceous glands (the skin's oil glands) to form a reservoir. 3. Fipronil is then secreted with the sebum (the natural oils of the skin and hair), continuously coating your pet_s skin and hair for several weeks after appliCation - in fact ies the longest-lasting spot on flea treatment available. Available in packs of 3 or 6 pipettes for Cats over 8 weeks old and weighing more than 1kg

Lots of cat owners swear by frontline and we have used it before, so when our cat's got fleas it seemed the obvious choice. However, having put it on both cats, we noticed little/ no difference in the flea population. We even put another on the cat worst effected a couple of weeks later to no effect. Ended up taking both cats to the vets for the flea injection (which they have had before and which works brilliantly, but works by basically making the fleas infertile, as their eggs wont hatch, but doesnt kill those already living on the animal.) He also put another product on them there and then which is stronger than frontline and which has eradicated the flea problem very quickly. The vet said sometimes frontline doesn't work and it certainly didnt in our case! I have given 2 stars as I know it has worked in the past and does work for other people, but I wanted to make people aware of the fact that sometimes it just has no effect and that vets have much stronger stuff that really does the job if the fleas just won't budge!!

Two years ago my ginger tabby cat got fleas. We'd been using Bob Martin Spot On which we thought would be cheap but effective. We were sadly wrong. Within days of noticing her fleas our house was infested and she became very sick. Following a rather heafty vet bill due to her becoming very anemic(foolishly uninsured at the time due to redundancy) and a recommendation of "only ever use Frontline" from our vet I can say that this product did indeed rid our little Roxy of her fleas - you could literally see them falling off her onto after treatment. Treatment of our house followed and two years later we are still flea free and have a happy puss cat. Can't rate this stuff highly enough, it's worth forking out that little bit more because it really is very effective.

NOTE: This version of Frontline will only treat the fleas on your cat. You need to buy Frontline Combo which will treat not only the cat but the environment in which the cats lives. So far as I can see this isn't available yet on Amazon but plenty of online vet stores sell it for much cheaper than you would pay at the actual vets (managed to buy a 3 pack for £13.99).

UPDATE: After two plus years of a flea free house this mont (October) I spotted a flea on my arm whilst using the PC. A day later my husband found one on his foot in bed. We had only recently used Frontline which was a bit worrying but a friend informs me that around the time one starts firing up the central heating is the perfect time for flea breeding. I honestly didn't think they would breed in the winter months but that's just naivety on my part.

Used this on my long haired cat in the spring and summer months and he has been flea free!! Easy to use and very effective!
Tip: before snapping the top of the applicator, warm it in hour hands so your cat won't notice so easily. The get the applicator ready before feeding your cat and when they are eating their food, pretend that you are just stroking their neck whilst parting the hair to put the spot on them. It works with my cat and he can usually tell when I'm up to something!!

This product comes in a three or six pipette pack; the six pipette pack tends to be slightly better value for money. It is fairly effective at flea and tick prevention (much better than powders or sprays) and requires application once each month to the back of the cat's neck. My cats tend to race around the house for about an hour after each application, so I keep them in the house until they are calm again.

It is important to note that Frontline is different to Frontline Combo; Frontline only treats the animal whereas Frontline Combo (only available from the vet or the internet with a vet's prescription) also treats the house. I have successfully used Frontline one month then Frontline Combo the next, alternating treatments and find that this is an effective means of controlling fleas whilst being cost-effective as the Combo version is more expensive.

usually buy this from my vets but found this exact same item for less money online. stops your cats from fleas and you have peace of mind that your carpet, furniture, bedding etc will not have any unwanted fleas. act now before you put your central heating on and invite fleas to hatch.

I've always found frontline reliable, but the last two times I have used it it isn't doing the job. It is supposed to kill fleas on the cat within 24 hours, and always has done in the past, but not any more. It's also supposed to keep them free of fleas for 4 weeks, but I've seen fleas on them 1 week after dosing them. It used to do the trick, but I'm wondering if fleas are becoming resistant to it.

I bought the 'Frontline Spot-On Treatment' for a lovely cat I had re-homed, who unfortunately at the time was covered in fleas. I simply applied this treatment to the back of her neck whilst she was sleeping. Within 48hrs the fleas was gone and I was no longer combing out the brown flea droppings.
