5.0 out of 5 stars Well-written and informative. 27 Feb 2013

Big country, Turkey! No guide can cover the lot. I think this Frommers guide is better written and covers many things that don't get a look-in with the usual Lonely Planet or Rough Guide stuff.. The authors clearly know what they are talking about, have visited, and have an understanding of local life: on that front I feel the other guides tend to sail in, grab a few leaflets, sail out then re-print that information. The only criticism of this Frommers' guide is that this is not really good at the cheaper end of things, so you'll need other books too for money-saving options and for extra information; no one book will cover the lot - however for informed information on what to see and do, this beats the others hands down. It reads well. Steve Riches, Northampton, UK.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not that good 18 Dec 2012
By Adrian F. Snead - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I normally buy Lonely Planet whenever I travel. The Lonely Planet for Turkey had bad reviews so I went with the best reviewed book--this one. Sadly, although published in 2012, I've found the hotel prices to be double of what is stated in the book. The book is also much more difficult to navigate than Lonely Planet books. All in all, it's an OK guidebook but if I had to do over again, I wouldn't get this one.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible guide- dont buy this 3 Jan 2013

We often dont realize how important a travel guide is when you are visiting a foreign country. From restaurant to travel recommendations, the guide becomes our trusted advisor. This guide was anything but that. I have had good experience with Frommers before, but this was a let down.

4.0 out of 5 stars Frommers review on Turkey 11 Oct 2012
By Ed - Published on Amazon.com

I ordered this book since it was just published and prior text had decent reviews. We are going to Antalya, Marmaris, and Ephesus. Book provided decent historical material on those locations and prioritises what you want to see. There are few pretty pictures that one gets with Eyewitness, but some local maps. There is acceptable information on history and culture. Overall, it is well-worth the purchase.
