Have just come back from Tasmania and this book was great. We managed to use it a great deal with us doing so much touring of Tasmania and the map has been well and truly used. We are planning to go back in 2 years so this will be well and truly in our luggage

Great little book for planning a trip to Tasmania. Usefully divided into different chapters depending on the time you have available, the region you're staying in or special interests you may have.

1.0 out of 5 stars Print too small to read. 10 Nov 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This book needs to be of a standard size so that a standard size print could be used.
The maps are useless because that are far too tiny to read.
You can download & print far better maps off the internet for free.
By reformatting you can print of A4 or A3 paper.
This book is no more than 2/3 the size of a normal paperback book such as a Bradt travel guide.
I'm afraid that it proved utterly worthless to me.

1.0 out of 5 stars Almost useless! 8 Jan 2013
By janet - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I bought this guidebook to help me navigate my 10-day visit to Tasmania in Nov 2012. This guidebook was so poorly organized that I left it behind in my hotel room. The sections were divided by interests like ecotourism, restaurants, accommodations, etc. Most of the maps were the same - the whole island. One map showed hotels, another map showed restaurants, and so forth. It would have been much better if the sections in the book were divided by area, to include attractions, hotels, restaurants. I continually flipped back and forth to find information on a particular location. There were very few detailed maps of towns in the guidebook. The fold-out map was the same as the maps in the guidebook, just a bit larger. I rented a car with a GPS and relied on the local Tourist Information centers to get around and make plans.

Excellent guide to Tasmania. It has been my "Bible" while planning our road trip there. I was unable to source this book in NZ. We leave for Tassie tomorrow!
