This is an excellent and straightforward account of what is best to do in Salzburg. We followed the advice and had a wonderful trip - it is a great city with quality collections - not well known - but the Residence has an engaging collection of paintings - but the highlight is the Salzburg Museum, which won an award in 2009 - and is an absolute must. Fantastic experience - with the works displayed with sensitivity. The accompanying map was very useful as were the tips about restaurants. if you visit Hanger 7, which has an outstanding restaurant - get off the bus as the stop before the one recommended - or you face a long walk back through the underpass.

I purchased 4 guidebooks for Salzburg, and this was the most helpful and up to date. Detailed point-to-point itineraries for 1 day, 2 days, and 3 days in Salzburg as well as for specific interests such as Mozart. The shopping guide was most extensive, and the restaurant guide was also helpful. There were many capsule photographs throughout the book, and the bus and street maps were built into the front cover. Finally, a large fold-out map was included in a plastic pouch; it had a street index and specific maps for Old Town and other parts of town.

Was in Salzburg for 3 days and found this to be a totally reliable guide, with good info on places to go and eat and - equally important - how to get there and how to prioritize your time. Consequently, I had a fantatic time in Salzburg and had enough activities on my "to do" list that I could have easily spent a full week there.
