From the illustration you'd think it was the usual slick travel guide, but the only photo is the one on the cover. The text is completely black and white, no photos, 7 maps. I'll take it with me because its small (4¼ x 7&3/8 - 3/8" thick - it IS portable) and it seems to have good restaurant reviews. Also it seems to be the only up-to-date guide available devoted to these islands. I'm not sorry I bought it and I may upgrade my review after using it on site, but it isn't going to whet your appetite for going.
I'm back from Turks & Caicos and I'm giving this another star. Since you won't get much guidance or advice from the unfriendly people there (the only amiable ones we encountered there were Haitians), you'll need a guide, and this is current, accurate, and reasonably priced. I understand why there aren't pictures. Its not a scenic place away from the landscaped oceanfront. The "Hole In the Wall" is really worth visiting for a meal, but they don't offer any pickup and return service as the guide says.
The diving is great!
