I read the Celtic Ring a few years ago and really enjoyed Larsson's descriptions in that book of sailing across the North Sea and around Scotland's West Coast. That aspect made the book for me.
Cape Wrath to Finsterre shows the same passion for sailing and travel. It is not a chronological description of a cruise, fleshing out a log book like so many other sailing books. It's more a collection of essays on various subjects. These subjects are all related to Larsson's sailing trips and experiences living aboard his boats.
These essays perfectly capture what is to me the true nature of sailing and foreign travel - not just the practicalities which do appear in the book but also Larsson's philosophies which strike a chord with me at least.
Reading the book would be best thought of as like late night conversations with Larsson over a few drams in the galley of his boat while the wind howls outside and he talks about the places he's been, adventures he's had, people he's met and life in general.
