Product Description

From Victim to Hero compellingly shares the selfless heroic nightmare of Steven Stayner; educating parents on issues they must know and be aware of. Steven’s story inspires and exemplifies the goodness and strength within the human spirit. The trauma experienced by the family is shared, giving insight of the impact on the marriage, children, and friends. Whether in abuse or abduction, From Victim to Hero portrays the grooming, lying and strategies used by predators to convince and coerce their victims into compliance. This book reiterates the three principles victims must realize – 1. Nobody has the right to hurt you. 2. It’s not your fault. 3. You don’t have the right to hurt others. Buy this book. Share it with your children. Keep them safe.

"From victim to hero" tells the true story of Steven Stayner, who was kidnapped at the age of 7 on his way home from school in Merced (California) by a child molester and then raised as the molester's own son for more than seven years. The book tells of the heartache and pain that Steven's family and friends go through as well as the ordeal Steven suffers at the hands of a monster. However this is not a story of adversity but of one young man's courage to escape with another 5 year old boy (Timmy White) to prevent the younger boy suffering as he had, and of his all too short life after his return. I Challange anyone not to shed a tear when Steven's parents are woken in the middle of the night, by a police officer to be told that their long lost son is not only alive and well but is comming home. Then only 9 years later they are again approached by an officer to be told of Steven's death in a motorcycle accident. "From victim to hero" is a well writen book about the extraordinary story of a quite remarkable young man. I would recommend it to anyone.

A HERO SIMPLE!! 15 April 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
This book is a must if you are interested in knowing who Steven was. If you are looking for something to connect Steven's abduction to Cory Stayner, think again! They may be brothers but that is where it ends and I do not intend to say more than that, but please do not dishonour Steven's memory by trying to find a link you won't. There is no getting away from the fact that he was abducted, but this book focuses on the friendship with Sharon Carr. Sharon's involvement has also given the reader a hint of the personality of Steven. He was and still is a hero, who overcame fear and pain to make a life changing decision. Jim Laughter brings to life the pain of Steven's parents again bringing a warmth that is lacking in other books a about this unique moment in America's history. There is of course the story of the abduction but again the author lets you see a bigger and stronger Steven. It is remarkable that Steven's keeps a sense of humour and perspective about his abduction. There is also the untold story of Steven's attempts to tell others about the dangers of child abduction. The boy who became a man is brilliantly brought into sharp focus. Other books have hinted at Steven's strength of character, but this book makes him real with all his vulnerabilities. Steven was no saint and if he was still with us he who no doubt agree with my statement, but he was a real hero, fighting fear in order to do the right thing. This book is not an attempt to use Steven's story as a political crusade of the evils of child abuse. This gives an insight into Steven's attempts to rebuild his life. It is clear that his friendship with Sharon is a key factor in this book and that brings to life a sense of normality about this man. Beautifully written and an excellent read a must for anyone who has read anything about Steven Stayner, I only wish I could have met him and shook his hand.
