I first heard of Mr Foxx (Dennis Leigh) when he was fronting the first Ultravox album which I thought was excellent. The next time he was on my radar was Metamic for me the standout track was Underpass, however unlike the rest of the world it seems I didn't think Metamatic was Foxx's holy grail.

But it appears that when John Fox collaborates with Louis Gordon he gets exceptionally close to it. "From Trash" is an excellent album; there isn't a weak track on it. It would be easy to believe this album could only appeal to those stuck in an 80's time warp; but Foxx and Gordon manage somehow to add a contemporary edge to their sound throughout the album. I have been playing this CD pretty much non stop for a fortnight and am still loving it. If you have ever considered buying a Foxx album but have never taken the plunge then this is the one to go for. You won't regret it.

I will certainly be waiting expectantly for his next offering.

This is probably the most flawless of John Foxx's solo (sort of!) outings. There are none of the slightly flat psychedelic outings which have cropped up on other records and it also avoids sounding overtly retro.

The title track is an absolute cracker. Dirty, grungey attacking electro which doesn't pull it's punches. 'Impossible' appears to take the central theme of 'Walk Away' and expand it into an powerful anthem. 'Your kisses burn' is a track which could give someone a big hit if it gets picked up as a cover, as it is an extremely good song with a great hook. 'A million cars' is one of my favourite Foxx tracks ever. It just grows and grows and sucks in all the sound around it like an aural black hole.

All in all this is a career highlight, wistful, insightful and very now.It is one of the best albums of this year. A must buy!

It has been a long time since I bought a CD having no idea what it would sound like, put it on and thought 'this is bloody fantastic!' Having been a John Foxx fan from the days of Ultravox/Metamatic/The Garden era, I had not been tempted by the recent ambient albums, and it was with some trepidation that I purchased 'From Trash', since nearly all the output from synth/electronic bands since the 80's has been very disappointing with fairly turgid retreads of past glories. What a revelation to discover 'From Trash' - this is simply fantastic synth/electronic music for the 21st century. It is astounding to think that somehow John Foxx (with Louis Gordon)has managed to produce an album at this stage in his career which ranks alongside this best work that he has ever done. 'Another You' is electropop bliss, whilst 'Impossible' and 'A Million Cars' would probably rank amongst my favourite John Foxx tracks of all time. This is a brillaint album - buy and enjoy!

I didn't think that J. Foxx could actually get better after such iconic albums as Metamatic and The Garden, but this collaboration with Louis Gordon proves otherwise. Time has finally caught up with his sound and it's as contemporary as ANY of the new 'kids' and their calculated derivations of the original sound. Sheer brilliance.

At last, THE perfect follow up to crash and burn.

From trash has everything you would expect from a John Foxx CD. The musical sounds basically encompass his whole solo career, with swirling synth sounds reminiscent of Metamatic days. This doesnt mean that it sounds dated, far from it in fact, the collaboration of Louis Gordon means that the moody music has a more up beat vibrant sound which wouldnt be out of place in the club scene.

This truly is a perfect piece of synth/electronica music which will sit nicely with young and old alike!
