Im a big Shania Twain fan so had to get this book. I have only had it a day or so and already I have read the frist three chapters.
Its a great book about Shanias early life and her famliy and how she became a music star and then got married.
Its even better as the book was written by her unlike other books that pepole have wrote about her.
If you really want to know about Shania Twain and her life I would get this book and have a read.

Shania is one of the most successful singers of all time and she had a hard life......found happiness with Mutt lange who then betrayed her. I always feel with a good autobiogrpahy, you should feel you know more about the author after reading the book. She has alwsy struck me as a genuine and sincere person who cared. After reading the book, that feeling is reinforced. She had a hard childhood, had to grow up before her time to take care of her siblings, got married and was almost detroyed by her husband's betrayal. This book is brutal and raw at time, honest throughout. I feel I know her better than I did before and she is someone who I would like to meet. This is not a sensationalist account to sell books......or a star without a story to tell (so many of thsoe) ...this is an honest account of someone with a real story to tell. Whether you like Shania or not, whether you like country music or not, this book is well worth a read. Highly recommended.

Having always enjoyed Shania Twain's music I looked forward to reading this book and I am was not disappointed. Often you read books of this type and feel there are gaps and you have questions for the author. Not in this case. She gives an honest and sometimes brutal account of her life. She is able too to set her story in context. It would have been easy to blame folk for what happened in her family yet she goes to great lenghts to explain the pressures and stresses people were under. We know she made a success of her music but it is interesting to read of the journey she made to become a star. It must not have been easy to revisit much of her life and to write it down but I am glad she had the courage to do so and hope we will soon be buying more of her wonderful music.

I am not a huge fan but was curious to learn more about Shania after hearing glimpses of her life (her parent's accident and her divorce). I also liked her voice and a few songs but that's about it. I found this book really moving - she is not a fantastic (book) writer but what she does so well is that she writes from the heart. No one is perfect and she simply tells her story in her way. I had no idea how far she's come - to becoming the Shania we all know. I have a new respect for her as a musician/song writer - so much more talent, guts and strength as a woman than I realised.

Towards the end she explains where she is now - still lots of anger and seems to be still struggling to come to terms with where she is at and what happened leading up to and after her divorce but that just made me admire her more for being honest about still being a little vulnerable and imperfect. She opens her heart to her fans - and I love her for it - she's won me over!

I usually re-sell or pass on books once I've read them but this one is staying with me - it really has touched me and I might re-read it if I ever start feeling sorry for myself - if she can get through what she has come through and come out on top - then so can I!

First of all I am a huge fan of Shania Twain, she is quite literally one of the most inspirational women out their. I am only 16, and she had really captured me in her book. I couldnt put this book down. I dont read many books personally but this one has to be my all time favourite. She is really honest in this book but then also comes across a private woman who is very protective over her personal life. The way she catches everyones attention in this book is brilliant. A legend and an inspiration! If you buy this book you wont be disappointed :) ENJOY!

I was never a Shania Twain before reading this book. Yes, sure, I really like a couple of her hits but it was her heartbreaking story (the affair between her husband and her friend) with a happy ending (when she remarried a gorgeous great guy) that made me purchase this book. And I'm glad I did, she is a fantastic writer. She's so weary that people would think she is so lucky for being a wealthy superstar that she's careful not to turn everything into a drama and makes us know that she knows how blessed she is and that many go through the same, and we do sympathize. She's very courageous, this woman. She's not perfect, and she shows her flaws in this, she's raw, and we thank her for that. A really enjoyable read giving us insight in the life of someone so famous without any falseness. I've become a fan and I'm not cheering for her all the way.

I have been a big fan of Shania since I heard the song 'that don't impress me much' back in 1999 and I started following her music from then, so it was only natural I was very curious about this book. I have to say I'm not disappointed because it has exceeded my expectations. I would like to stress though, that you don't need to be a fan of hers to read it, because it will equally make a very interesting read for any human being with a little bit of compassion and understanding.
This book is shocking sometimes, certainly some passages especially from her childhood and teenage years will leave you speechless, and will chill your blood often. But I bet many people can relate to some of her experiences. It's not all doom and gloom of course, and there's plenty of interesting facts about the nitty-gritty of the music industry. I have enjoyed it very much, it's written in a very open and almost friendly way and I would definitely recommend it. I agree with those who say her success is well deserved, this is a woman who's been through a lot but never gave up hope. I admire her now even more, she's been very brave to write about painful experiences and share it with the whole world. I'm also quite impressed at the way she has handled the ex husband issue, she could have been far more bitchy but she is an absolute lady on this topic.
On the whole an excellent book, I hope many people enjoy it as much as I have, it's worth giving it a go.
