For those who thought 50's popular music was badly recorded and sounded terrible, take a listen to this album. It is a wonderful (assuming you like Mr Holly) collection of his popular hits taken from the original master tapes into the digital age. The clarity of his voice in these recordings makes you realise not only that these tracks were done in one take, but because it presents such a close audio image that you are hearing the 'real' Buddy Holly (there is even the lead-in and intro on True Love Ways). It is one of those albums that never fails to make the hairs stand up on the back of my neck.
If you like Buddy Holly, or even if you only like some of his singles- get this record. It's one that should be in everyones collection.
