I am a huge Bonnie Tyler fan, and have been for the past 31 years. This is a nice collection of her best-known hits, and the not so well-known tracks for the simple reason that they were never released as singles. To that extent, it receives 4 stars, because of that novelty. This being said, I think it would have been a plus to also add the latest version of TEOTH with BPS newly released in the UK in January, in addition to her duet thereof with Kareen Antonn, which had topped the chart for 12 weeks running in France, and topped the charts in Poland. I think there may have been a missed opportunity to promote that single as well. I hope Bonnie will come out with something new and fresh later this year. This being said, if you have not heard anything new from Bonnie lately, check out this album.

As a huge fan of Bonnie Tyler, it would be easy for me to say at least five more songs that I think should be on this album, singles that were big hits in other countries and shamefully unheard of in the UK, not to mention some of the ones that got away ('Notes From America' springs to mind). The fact is, as a greatest hits CD, 'From The Heart' is well worth having, all of her UK smashes are presented here, making it perfect for the casual listener (which is of course who it is aimed at).

The famous four, 'Total Eclipse Of The Heart', 'Holding Out For A Hero', 'It's A Heartache' and 'Lost In France' are the songs that Bonnie is most known for in her own country (therefore no introduction is needed). She also had minor hits with the brilliant 'Have You Ever Seen The Rain', the impressive hard rocking 'Faster Than The Speed Of Night' and 'If You Were A Woman (And I Was A Man)', these songs are very 1980s classic rock. It's nice to see a song from her brilliant 1988 album 'Hide Your Heart' is also included, a lovely and powerful ballad called 'Streets Of Little Italy'. Other lesser known hits include a few songs from the 1970s, such as the raunchy top 30 'More Than A Lover' and the disco track 'Married Men'.

Bonnie's later work is presented with a wonderful cover of the Beatles' 'In My Life' and 'Making Love (Out Of Nothing At All), a song that will tug on your heartstrings. The most recent recordings here are her radio hit in Germany 'Louise' and 'Si Demain', a French duet of 'Total Eclipse' which stayed at no.1 in the French charts for ten weeks in 2004. 'You Won't See Me Cry' is a track from an album she made in 1993 and serves as nothing more than filler, there are much better tracks in her vast musical catalog which I would have preferred on this album.

I tend to be a bit hopeless when given any kind of choice whatsoever. You should see me at the supermarket trying to choose a washing powder: I'm like a rabbit in the headlights. All I wanted was a Bonnie Tyler CD which would allow me to enjoy some classic Bonnie. What did I find? More collections with her face on them than you can shake a stick at, most of them proclaiming to be better than any of the others. What is a man supposed to do? Well, this particular one panicked and simply went for the one with the nicest picture of Bonnie on it. Alright, so I'm shallow. There, I admit it.

I would hesitate before calling myself anything like as grand as a 'Bonnie Tyler Fan'. She's done some fantastic songs in her time and I for one thought she did a cracking job trying to fashion a silk purse out of a sow's ear in this year's 'Eurovision', but I would never for one moment try to pass myself off as a 'Fan'. Consequently, I have no idea as to the merits of why some songs were deemed fit to be included on this particular disc and others were not, nor do I have the foggiest clue about her musical career in general. I simply wanted a disc that included 'Faster Than The Speed Of Night' on it and which would allow me to strut my stuff along to said tune the next time I'm bored enough to think about doing any housework. Of course, if I could only find myself a pair of high-heeled boots like the ones Bonnie is wearing on the cover of this CD and then somehow also find a way of wearing them while doing the housework, then I would probably have the cleanest house in Essex. But sadly, I can't. Life is just REALLY not fair sometimes.

This disc contains 17 of Bonnie Tyler's Greatest Hits.

Yes this may be another "Greatest", but it is very interesting snapshop of a superb career by a highly talented artist. The tracks of this album re-affirm the thinking that Bonnie benefitted from some superb songs early in her career and these are all here on this album. As one would expect a few tracks are not so powerful and memorable. However, track 9 from her "Heartstrings" album, her best in the last 10 years, by a long way,re-inforces her fabulous talent when it is supported by both a "classic" song and supreme guitar work with a quality production.Regretfully 2 more recent tracks, which I think have some French influence, are not to the standard of her British recordings. Overall though a thoroughly enjoyable album.
