I bought this book as I began my second year of university studying a law degree, in the hope it would provide me with some guidance on the process of securing a training contract. It has since proved to be an invaluable tool, which I have referred to countless times.
It is written in an accessible format and takes you clearly through the process of securing a training contract, considering every step of the route from applying to university for a law degree and undertaking work experience, to writing CV's, covering letters and applications, and providing tips on how to impress at interviews and assessment centres.
There is a wealth of knowledge included in the book drawing from practical advice from top lawyers and trainees from City and regional firms as well as advice from legal HR managers, who often play a key role in the recruitment process.
The book helped me to gain a better insight into the recruitment process and make more focused applications. I also found the interview section, which includes some practice questions, particularly helpful.
I am now going into my 3rd year of University having secured a training contract over the summer, and credit the book for helping me to achieve my goal. I would definitely recommend it.
