This little book encouraged me a lot - it's well-written and easy to read. The author shares some of her own stories to illustrate points well, and the message that comes across is that life should be full of hope, optimism and fun - when we begin to realise who we really are!

A very human account by someone who has the `extraordinary' experience of hearing a loving voice and agreeing to listen to it for an hour a day. Carol questions the validity of the voice, but listens anyway.

The book shares the beauty of the messages, juxtaposed with Carol's personal and human ponderings as she lives life with her feet firmly on the ground.

Carol's story gives any of us on the spiritual journey a chance to say - "Ah, it is like that for me too", including the thought that no one else is going through the same thing!

Her account validates the vicissitudes of the journey of faith as one moment we fall into God's love and receive insight, and the next find ourselves plummeting through emotions or life circumstances that leave us feeling far from enlightened.

A buffet for the modern spiritual seeker 2 July 2012
By Jacob A. Nordby - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Carol Woodliff has written a beautiful book. It is equal parts practical, mystical and just refreshingly real.

How often do you meet a modern shaman living in a giant metropolis who is down to earth enough to share her very human struggles, but shifts effortlessly into tales of her communion with the Universe? Read this book and you'll meet just such a woman.

Reading "From Scared to Sacred" reminded me of that Thích Nh't H'nh quote: "...no mud, no lotus". Ms. Woodliff does a wonderful job of illustrating our role as alchemists of consciousness--how we transmute the grit and mud of life into sublime awareness.

Thank you for sharing yourself so honestly, Carol.

Aho,

Raise the volume on your inner voice 21 Aug 2012
By Joanne E. Sprott - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I received the distinct honor of copyediting and proofreading this book. It's always a pleasure to work on inspirational books (great change from some of the more arid tomes I take on), but this one is really special. Carol and I shared the Catholic upbringing challenge and the sense of being a bit different and connected to something we weren't fully aware of, but Carol's lovely Voice within has been louder than mine, and has taken her on quite the adventure so far.

Many people have transformational stories, stories of "chucking it all" and leaving the rat race for the contemplative mountaintop or a healer's career. What I like about Carol and her writing is that (shh, don't tell), she's one of us! Totally accessible, effective with her connection to her Voice and healing energy, and yet with both feet on the ground (and not sparing us the groveling in the mud parts). The journey of From Scared to Sacred is a journey I could actually imagine myself taking, if I had Carol's faith and courage. She doesn't just tell you to let go of everything, start anew, trust your own inner voice. She tells you just how she did it herself and continues to do it.

Really, I laughed many times while reading through, and cried also. This is the ultimate test. Making the connection to the heart of the reader, taking the hand of their mind and submersing them in your own journey, reminding them that they can go on a journey to Who They Really Are, too.

Listen to Carol's Voice in From Scared to Sacred, and then your own, and move toward your bliss, no matter what.

If you are looking for the sacred in your life, buy this book. 17 July 2012
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I loved reading Carol's beautifully written book "Scared to Sacred". The mix of inspirational writings, quotes, personal stories and questions at the end of each chapter was refreshingly new to me. Her stories mirrored my own in so many ways to say I was touched is an understatement. I have learned from reading about her journey and will apply some of her learning to my own.

I have to commend Carol for being so open and just being herself and then, for sharing it so publicly. I feel the world will benefit from some reality that makes sense. If you are looking for the sacred in your life, I highly recommend reading this book.

A wonderfully written, original work. 2 July 2012

I found this book to be so relevant. It is gracefully written and reveals a true authenticity. I found myself identifing with the stories of the authors' life, the questions they presented and asking myself those same questions. I feel encouraged by this work for me also to be quiet and listen.
