Starting as a filmmaker? This book should be your first read.
It mostly concerns producing, and therefore talks a little about everything, but doesn't go into detail with how the camera works or how to edit. After all, you don't need to know every single detail of how everything works because, hopefully, you'll be getting a crew that knows how to do their own specific job (i.e. a DP who is knows how to work a camera).
If you're not interested in proucing/directing, this still is the base required before purchasing a book closer to your niche (camera, sound, directing, acting, etc.), since, it doesn't matter what you're doing in a set, you should have a good idea of what everyone else is doing too.
Even if you're an experienced filmmaker, this book will fill some gaps and holes, and will give you ideas and points of view which you can apply to your methods.
The best thing about it though, is the fact that Dov writes in a very easy-to-read and inspiring way that will encourage you to go ahead, stop doubting, and make a movie.
Overall, after reading this book, you should be ready to actually make your first project, whether it's a s short or an independent feature.
