Biography

We live in uncertain times. Technology has undoubtedly enhanced our existence, but it has also made us vulnerable to government interference, sensory overload and identity theft. Generally this isn’t the type of subject matter breached by hardcore bands, but then again Buffalo, New York’s Every Time I Die have never been a typical hardcore act. In fact for over a decade the band ... Read more in Amazon's Every Time I Die Store

5.0 out of 5 stars ETID's Magnum Opus. 3 July 2014
By Brigham Breton - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
This album is the culmination of every single album ETID have put out. We all knew that the boys from Buffalo had the ability to make a mind shattering, legendary album, but they have never been able to reach the heavens as high as the gods of the genre, Converge (although, admittingly, they've been very close). Until now. This album is a juggernaut of sound that you hear coming from a distance on the opening track but you do not expect the magnitude of sheer brutality it carries with it until it barrels into you (the track aptly named 'the great secret'). The entire album chock full of the best Jordan, Andy, Keith and the rest have ever put out (no doubt due to Ballou's ability to bring it out of every band he produces albums for), but my personal favorites are Old Light and Moor. The former has layers of melodic depth and almost radio tune like catchiness, while the latter is an emotional catharsis for Keith (the vocalist has said it is about dealing with the ordeal of his wife's assault) that really shines despite being completely different from anything else on the album.

Basically, guys and gals, if the heavier parts of Converge's Axe to Fall and the tachycardic thrash of Bane's Give blood had a baby with every single ETID album simultaneously, the behemoth that would emerge from this unholy act would be From Parts Unknown. Do yourself a favor and present yourself as an offering and let the album do its worst with you.

5.0 out of 5 stars They surprise me again! 11 July 2014
By Midway 47 - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I don't know why but I keep expecting Every Time I DIe to simmer down or release a radio-friendly album. I guess it's because so many bands that have tons of talent like these guys usually sell out and lose all original musicianship. I am very proud of ETID for releasing great album after album and staying on the path of being one of the best bands in the last decade. From Parts Unknown is everything I was hoping it would be but didn't exactly expect. I guess it's time that I quit expecting the worst and start accepting that ETID is one of those rare bands that seems like they just get better with age. This is an absolutely great album!

5.0 out of 5 stars Color me impressed 14 July 2014
By Orphan of Sickness - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
I always held Every Time I Die in high regard when it comes to metalcore. Their attitude and energy have never let up since the Last Night in Town days, but something I noticed with their last few albums, especially Ex Lives, is that they've been putting much more effort into writing these songs. With this album, I think they've finally hit their stride. This is a fun album that keeps its spirits high throughout, not being drug down by monotony or lack of inspiration. It's a huge surprise to see this band give their all and release the defining moment of their discography.

I'm going to keep this short because a mere review doesn't do this justice. Buy it, press play, and rejuvenate your chaotic spirits once again.
