I've been an avid fan of Lonnie Mack since the days of 'Memphis' in the early 60's and it's great to now see virtually all his early recordings available on CD. Because these compilations are essentially ways to package and release all that early material, they don't make especially coherent recordings - and there are often 2 or even 3 versions of the same track. However, for fans of the man, they are a 'must buy'. If you want to choose just one early Mack album, then my advice would be to go for the 'Wham' album - it's a cracker! Failing that 'Lightning strikes' is a more recent goodie. If you want an 'on the road' style album, go for 'Roadhouses'.
