Book Description

31 Aug 2012
Children will be utterly absorbed by this journey through the history of architecture, from the earliest mud huts to today's soaring towers. Chronologically arranged, this large-format book gives each iconic building its own double-page spread featuring an exquisite watercolour illustration and clearly written descriptions, facts, and features. These vibrantly detailed pages are filled with people, animals, and other objects that help bring the buildings to life. A detailed appendix includes a timeline, a world map that points out where each building can be found, and an extensive glossary. Children will enjoy poring over this book - and will come away with a fundamental understanding of not only the most common architectural terms, but of how the built world has evolved marvellously over time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great introduction to architecture 9 Jan 2013
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
I bought this book for my 6 year old daughter and she loves it. We talk about the different styles and she like the fact that the pictures have numbers so you can get more information about different aspects of the buildings. The timeline at the back is very useful and I'm sure it'll be more relevant as she gets older.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Book 12 Dec 2012
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
I bought this for my 10 year old nephew who is interested in Art and Architecture. This book is full of colourful drawings of architecture through the ages. Nice write up and enough text to keep their attention. Great for learning this book is not that thick but quite a large size so the picture and text and nicely spread out and really captures the imagination. The hard cover means it will withstand being knocked about and should look pretty new for a while (I have not tested this theory as yet!). A thumbs up from me - wish I had this book when I was a kid!
