If you like the jazz of Desmond, and at the same time favour Brazilian vibes from the sixties, this one album is for you. It is also for the person that liked the famous album Getz/Gilberto, but who would now like to take that next step. There is nobody who would not like the airs of "Catavento" when listening to it for the first time; it contains all the elements of the life you wish you had. "Outubro" and "From the hot afternoon" are also excellent tunes, as well as most of the rest of the album.

Thankyou so much for this Album From the Hot Afternoon which evokes so many memories of those Hot Afternoons and the joy of discovering this music - I had taken, as usual, a fancy, without knowing even who Paul Desmond was to the Album from A&M who was recording the likes od Senor Jobim as well - how the dividends were paid back in full for my financial outlay - I have now got back what was lost to being only on an LP. If you ever only listen to the track from which this offering takes it name you will be rewarded
