"This book was so much fun, I didn't want it to end." -- Susan Hatler, International Bestselling Author

NOTE: This is a short and sweet young adult romance, about 165 pages

When good-girl Maddie switches places with her famous bad-girl twin Jackie, she has some pretty high stilettos to fill.

Despite the danger of tabloid drama if their identity swap is discovered, Maddie has to save her sister's butt. When Jackie’s ex-boyfriend shows up with a rekindled spark for “Jackie,” his deep gray eyes and sweet kisses make Maddie's heart thumpety thump. But dating the guy who dumped her sister is a no-no. Too bad Dallas isn’t used to girls saying no. What will happen when he discovers Maddie’s deception?

WHAT REVIEWERS ARE SAYING ABOUT VERONICA BLADE'S OTHER BOOKS:
“This book is delicious!”

“This book takes Twilight and others like it to the next level!”

“The dialogue and emotions are real and raw...Oftentimes the author used comedic wit to the scenes giving it an even more humanistic appeal to the characters.”

“I have a feeling that Hayden is going to end up with a lot of fans, and if you're the type of person who tends to fall for the bad boys with hearts of gold, you should probably brace yourself for a new literary crush before picking up Something Witchy This Way Comes!”

“From teen to adult, I can't imagine anyone not absolutely adoring this book.”

FROM FAME TO SHAME EXCERPT
“And what are your plans tomorrow tonight?” Dallas reached up to rub a lock of my hair between his thumb and finger.

“Plans?” My mouth went dry. He stood way too close and my concentration slipped.

“You always have plans.” His eyes caressed my face.

“Not tomorrow night.” Somewhere deep in my soul, I knew that was the wrong answer. But when your brain stops working, telling the truth is so much easier.

“A friend told me that Josh Adams is jamming at Hanks Blues. It’s supposed to be a surprise. Should be fun.”

I nodded, since it was all I was capable of at the moment.

“We’ll have dinner there. I’ll pick you up at six.”

Preventing Dallas from making another date with me would’ve been smart. The words hovered in my throat, but I couldn’t force them out. Even if I didn’t reject his offer, I needed to say something. Or, at the very least, finish cleaning up after breakfast. And yet, I couldn’t move. I just stared into his eyes as they fixed on mine.

His gaze fell to my mouth, then he reached both hands up to cup my face and, inch by inch, lowered his mouth to mine.

Our lips touched, feather-light. He shifted his body and brought his thighs against mine, but he didn’t deepen the kiss. He just skimmed the surface, gently teasing my mouth until my nerve endings hummed. Seconds stretched and my lungs stilled as I ached for more.

Then, slowly, he withdrew, keeping close enough that I still felt his warm breath against my skin.

I couldn’t catch my breath. A thick haze clouded my brain and I worried he might ask me something, anything, that required a response and I’d slip up. Fear that I’d blow it for Jackie paralyzed me.

Oh, my God! Jackie! If she knew I’d just kissed the guy who dumped her, she’d feel hurt and betrayed and what had we just talked about? Jackie didn’t need this, on top of everything else.

“I…” I had no idea what to say. I only knew that if someone didn’t say something soon and break the trance, I would let Jackie down worse than I already had. Because, more than anything, I wanted this guy, no matter how nice he was.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun easy read 3 Sep 2012
By Jodzie
Format:Kindle Edition
From Fame to Shame is only a short book so I will admit I was unsure about if it would be long enough for me to get into. This worry quickly evaporated because I straight away liked the main character, Maddie.

Veronica has created some great characters with different personalities. I liked seeing how different Maddie and Jackie were although they are twins. I mostly disliked Jackie but I did warm to Maddie, she was a great main character. Dallas is a sweet guy, I wouldn't say I fell in love with him but he is sweet and I definitely saw why Maddie felt a connection.

The storyline was fun and easy. I definitely wasn't ever left guessing and could pretty much always predict what was going to happen but I wasn't looking for a book which keeps you in suspense. I was looking for an easy and fun read and From Fame to Shame was definitely that.

If you're looking for a sweet cotemporary book to read while you relax then this is definitely the book for you. I enjoyed the storyline and finished it feeling content.

5.0 out of 5 stars YA Romance 2 Aug 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I received this book on a read to review basis.

This book is short and sweet, luckily because I was not going to sleep until I had finished reading it. The story follows the life of a twin that swaps places to give her sister a break from the Hollywood limelight. To begin with all Maddie has to worry about is not tripping over on the red carpet, but after meeting her sisters ex, and her long time crush, Dallas, it starts getting complicated.

The story is well written, a quick read and the characters just jump to life. Most of us have fallen for people we know we shouldn't, so your heart goes out to Maddie, whilst also falling for Dallas (he is every girls dream). Will she or won't she?

This book left me on such a high, I just wanted to go lock myself away with all my favourite books and re-visit all my favourite characters.

5.0 out of 5 stars What Fun! 24 Mar 2012
By The Book Runner - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
O.K. first off, what a fun author's name; really cool! Second, this book is such a delight! I loved the whole twin switching places idea where one of them is famous. This was so cute to read and really well written. I highly recommend this very sweet love story.

Perhaps some spoilers?
Jackie is the starlet twin who is having a semi-nervous breakdown. She needs a few days to herself and convinces her introverted twin Maddie, to pretend to be her for a couple days. Maddie has to endure the red carpet to watch a premier, a photo shoot and a guest spot at a famous restaurant's grand opening while Jackie hides out at their parent's house pretending to be Maddie. Everything was going fine except that Jackie's ex-boyfriend, Dallas has found himself mysteriously attracted to Jackie (really Maddie), a girl that he broke up with because there was "nothing there". He cannot understand their new chemistry for each other and can't seem to stay away from her. Maddie is finding herself falling for her sister's ex and has to keep him at arm's length because of the preying paparazzi.

This was so much fun to read and had the real feel of what a Hollywood starlet has to endure to be perfect for the cameras. Dallas is romantic, handsome and a great guy morally and is perfect for the right girl. I will be looking for more stories by this talented author with the fantastic name.

5.0 out of 5 stars I absolutely LOVED this book! 20 Mar 2012
By jwitt33 - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
I've read everything Veronica Blade has written, and I'm a huge fan of hers, so it probably will not come as a surprise that I absolutely LOVED this book! It is without a doubt her best work to date! And that's saying a lot because I have really enjoyed all of her stories!

In this book, Maddie and Jackie are 18 year old twins but they couldn't be more different. Maddie is the small town girl who lives at home with her parents, works at their jewelry store, and prefers staying home and reading a good bok to going out at night, and Jackie is her polar opposite - an actress who loves the spotlight and lives in Hollywood, where she loves to go out, party, and see and be seen. She adores the attention, until the tabloids start to attack her right when she is up for a part in a serious movie, which she fears will scare the producers off. All of the pressure starts to get to her and she just needs a break for a week or so, so she calls her sister, Maddie, to step in and impersonate her at a few publicity appearances. Maddie is very hesitant, but when she sees how much Jackie needs the break, she finally agrees to do it, against her better judgment. Jackie lives in an apartment building right across the hall from her ex-boyfriend, mega-hottie Dallas, also an actor, who just happens to be the guy Maddie has had a huge crush on for years! As Maddie tries to "be" Jackie, she and Dallas connect on a level he and Jackie never did, but she knows that she cannot tell him the truth about who she is without possibly ruining Jackie's life.

When I agreed to read this book, I told the author it would probably take me a few days since I was a bit behind on my reviews, and I would get back to her when I had the chance to read it. Lo and behold, I read it that very night and immediately contacted her to tell her how great it was! The characters were likable and relatable, and it was really great to see how much Maddie grew through the course of the book, gaining self-confidence and coming out of her shell a bit. Jackie and Maddie got along great, which I really liked since usually in stories with twins who are so different from one another, one is really nice while the other is either selfish or mean, or something along those lines. Dallas was definitely swoon-worthy!! One of my favorite lines from the book describes him like this: "Damn, he smelled good. A little bit musky and a whole lot of yum." Spot on!

In summary, I wholeheartedly recommend this book to all lovers of YA contemporary fiction, and it is going on my list of favorite books of 2012! I will be waiting anxiously for the sequel, From Couture to Cut-Offs, which will tell Jackie's story! :D
