From Dusk til Dawn follows a notorious pair of criminal siblings on the run from the Texas Rangers who kidnap a father and his children, and make them drive them across the border. What seems like a seedy bar to pass the time in, the unlikely group find themselves in a bar populated by vampires!
This is the one of of those 'cult classics' which I have never really sought out to see, aside from the notorious scene involving a red velvet bikini and a snake!! I was thoroughly surprised to find myself enjoying every moment of this film.
To start, I am not a fan of Clooney, I think his roles as the nice-yet slightly criminal guy are a bit tedious and repetitive. Let me say this role in totally outside his comfort zone, and thoroughly refreshing. He is superb in his role as a really nasty notorious criminal. It includes some usuals from the Tarantino/Rodriguez cast such as Harvey Keitel, Cheech Marin and Danny Trejo amongst others you will recognise.
Overall - I was very surprised at how unseemingly brilliant this film is - a film of two halves - starting of like a crime thriller and evolving into a horror thriller with bucket loads of gore, which is what Rodriguez is known and loved for!
