4.0 out of 5 stars 4th of 4 books 10 Jan 2008
By Mojo147
Format:Mass Market Paperback
The fourth book in this series is based on a sinister government experiment to turn ordinary people into Violets through gene therapy using a serum concocted by the late Dr. Bartholomew Wax. Wax is an eccentric scientist who has amassed the world's greatest collection of stolen art as payment for his covert work. Before committing suicide Wax returns all the stolen art work and exterminates all his test subjects leaving his work incomplete. Wax's former employers plan to use a Violet to channel Wax and get him to complete his experiments.
Natalie Lindstrom heroine in all four books is back using her long-neglected artistic talents to support her family by creating new artworks in collaboration with well-known deceased artists.
One of the victims of the violet "therapy" is Calvin Criswell, an ex art-forger to whom Natalie Lindstrom is attracted. Together they discover the violet serial killer from book 1 has had help escaping and is again on the hunt aiding a consortium of corps members who are trying to create violets.

5.0 out of 5 stars NOT SO SHY VIOLETS 23 Jan 2007
By Michael Butts - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Stephen Woodworth takes us back into the world of the Violets, genetically enhanced humans who serve as portals for the dead. This time around, heroine Natalie Lindstrom and her daughter Callie face evio from the Violet Killer, the serial killer who was murdering Violets and was captured by Natalie. But not until he killed her lover Dan.

Now the Killer is aiding a consortium of corps members who are trying to create violets using a serum concocted by the late Dr. Bartholomew Wax, who before he committed suicide had exterminated his test subjects. now the Corps plans to use a Violet to channel Wax and get him to complete his experiments.

An intriguing sideline in this book is the channeling of such famous artists including The Scream's Svink and even da Vinci and others. Woodworth keeps the plot moving and manages to make this incredible premise work for his readers.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good read 23 Sep 2007

I was lucky enough to come across Stephen Woodworth with his debut novel of Through Violet Eyes and I was hooked. I adored #1.

From Red Hands left me breathless and wanting more! I was terribly disappointed in The Golden Blood.

In From Black Rooms, Stephen is back on form. I was glad to see that Natalie was meeting someone else, although I really still haven't forgiven Woodworth for what he did to Dan.

One note for new readers of Woodworth's books: YOU MUST READ THEM IN ORDER OF PUBLICATION!!!!

I was very lucky to have started at the start and have always looked out for his books so I naturally followed the order. If you don't follow the sequence, you'll ruin the other books for yourself because the entire plot of each book is rehashed.
