This book is simply fantastic. Detailing the life and characteristics of frogs, toads and newts, it guides you through their identity, lifestyle, habits and life cycle, illustrated with simply hundreds of gorgeous pictures printed in lush Dorling Kindersley style. It's a chunky hardback, with good, thick photographic paper, and it's a joy to read. There isn't a great deal of text, but there's certainly enough to educate you on the life and times of frogs.
The focus is on the photos, and they are brilliant - there are many, many species photographed here, and you can only guess at the time and effort which went into them. The photographer and author, Thomas Marent, gives a few insights into his passion for taking froggy photos, and describes some of the lengths he went to in order to take these pictures. It's frankly, an amazing journey into a tiny, tiny world.
My only (minor) complaint about the book is that there isn't enough of it - it finishes somewhat abruptly after describing their reproductive cycle, and leaves you wanting more!
