5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant resource - a must-read for any comedy fan, 12 Jun 2002
By A Customer
The only bad thing I can think of about this book is how difficult it is to get hold of a copy (I had to request it from my local library), but if you can get your paws on one, its well worth reading.

From Fringe to Flying Circus chronicles the golden age of British comedy, from TW3 and Beyond The Fringe, through Private Eye, The Cambridge Circus, and ISIRTA through to Monty Python and The Goodies. With contributions from some (if not most) of the biggest names in British comedy, and packed with script extracts and photographs, its a wonderful read for anyone who either loves 60's and 70's comedy, or who just wants to read something funny.

Find out which Goody voted against women joining the Footlights, which producer wanted to call a review 'You Can't Call A Review Cornflakes'and how the Dead Parrot sketch was born. And even if all those things don't tempt you, see a photograph of Peter Cook dressed as Greta Garbo. (Has to be seen to be believed.)
