5.0 out of 5 stars Salvation for your leftover strips and scraps! 27 Mar 2011
By Barbara Rhoades TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Paperback
You have strips left from past projects and a bunch of scraps that you just can't part with. What to do with all this wonderful fabric???? Edyta Sitar solves that problem in her book Friendship Strips & Scraps with 18 projects. Quilts to table toppers to table runners to wall hangings are shown in this book which is set up as a strip exchange but there is no reason you can't make the whole project yourself without doing an exchange (especially since you have all this wonderful "leftover" fabric!).

There are two sections before the projects start. One discusses strip sets and the other shows the steps for doing fusible applique. The projects themselves are well written with the materials list set off in a yellow frame. A colored photo of the finished item is provided and the cutting list is clearly written. The directions for creating the blocks have graphics included to make sure you are on the right path.

Templates needed are included at full size. The best part of the pattern is even though it says "quilt as desired" the author tells you how her project was quilted. These projects are good ones for anyone who has a scrap/strip basket that is overflowing. I will definitely be making a few of these projects.

5.0 out of 5 stars Friendship Strips & Scraps 29 Mar 2011
By trish
Format:Paperback
I watched Ricky Timms quilt show on line - and Edyta was his guest. Fell in love with her quilts and of course the opportunity to use some of my stash and scraps. Now I have received the book I can see lots of opportunities to make more quilts using up lots of strips and not worry so much about matching the colours. Good instructions and pattern pages.

This is a great book with lots of great patterns and inspiration. Edyta's creative use of mixing batiks, reproduction prints, and everything else is something I would not have thought of doing. Her instructions are very clear and photos are great. I cannot wait to get started on many of her projects.

Just what I needed to motivate me to finish a quilt that needed a little something added to it. Used up a lot of my scraps and the quilt turned out beautifully.
