Classic Friends, 23 Aug 2003
By A Customer
Format:DVD
In the last 4 episodes of series 9, TOWT Fertility test, TOWT Donor and TOW In Barbados 1 & 2, we get to see Monica (Courteney Cox Arquette) and Chandler(Matthew Perry) discovering they cannot have children, Phoebe(Lisa Kudrow) returning to ex-boyfriends Mike (Guest star Paul Rudd), and of course the Rachel, (Jennifer Aniston) Ross (David Schwimmer) and Joey (Matt Le Blanc) love triangle, which the Friends writers seemingly never tire of dragging out.
TOWT Ferility test, has been deemed as on of the saddest episodes of Friends to date, when married couple Monica and Chandler are informed they can't have children, in this scene all jokes are put aside as these two actors/actresses deliver a performance worthy of more than a sitcom.
TOWT Donor, here the Bings look into sperm donors, with hilarious results. Rachel tries to overcome her newly found feelings for Joey, Phoebe is back with David (Hank Azaria) aka 'The Scientist Guy' but still getting over Mike.
TOW In Barbados 1 & 2 - The whole gang set off to Barbados to listen to Ross speak in a Paelintology conference, joined by David, and Joey's current girlfriend Charlie (Aisha Tyler), who Ross is also attracted to. With the constant rain, trapping them all inside the hotel it's all systems go.
The second episode shows Rachel and Joey coming ever closer to the enivitable. Monica, Chandler, Phoebe and Mike are in the game room as Monica and Mike (Who turns out to be equally as competitive) have a long game of ping-pong, in a typical Friends way of 'What shall we do with the others', so whilst these 4 our battling it out, the real storyline is happening above.
It's all in all, Classic Friends.

For fans who haven't yet seen these on T.V., this is a must. Yet again, it is full of superb Friends silliness and wise-crack one liners. Recent series haven't had me personally roaring as I did with earlier series (e.g. series 5 and 6 being great), but this one still shows the writers have comic genious, and the six are on top form. Thank God these series don't have so much of the whining Ross Rachel off on story line, and these two have at last got on with their lives...I can't give away the ending incase you haven't seen it, but it's a warm and cuddly ending to this series!

Right, here goes. The last volume of Friends Series 9 is a must have, episodes include The One With The Fertility Test, The One With The Donor and the final two-parter: The One In Barbados.
Despite weaker episodes earlier in the series, the final two-parter is essential viewing - still hilarious, witty, very quick and even manages to throw up a few surprises.

The One With The Fertility Test and The One With The Donor focus mainly on Chandler (Matthew Parry) and Monica's (Courtney Cox-Arquette) problems with getting pregnant - sometimes with amusing consequences (Chandler’s 'amazing' work mate 'sperm-donor') and other times facing the sad facts and making new resolutions.

The One In Barbados centres on Ross's (David Schwimmer) palaeontologists convention in the Caribbean and, among other things, the revelation that he is actually famous (on being asked for an autograph from a fan: "... Sarah. I dig you...Love, Doctor Ross Geller".) While Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow) is forced to choose between David from Minsk and Mike over who could (possibly) marry her, Monica's hair begins to morph into a poodle and she finds her match against the equally competitive Mike in a game of table tennis, with hilarious results.

Long-running questions are finally answered in these episodes: will Chandler and Monica ever have children, will Phoebe ever marry, will Joey (Matt LeBlanc) and Rachel (Jennifer Anniston) ever get together and will Ross finally pluck up the courage to date Charlie?
With a superb cliff-hanger ending, these episodes surely wrap up a fine series of Friends in style, humour and a great deal of finesse.
