5.0 out of 5 stars Nice gentle book and lovely pictures 5 Nov 2013

A really nice little story. Possibly a bit too subtle for those who are looking to work on their child's social skills but a sweet story nonetheless, and lots of details to spot in the illustrations.

5.0 out of 5 stars Social skills for little 'uns 11 Jan 2012
Format:Paperback
This is the tale of the rabbit Ambrose who moves house (burrow?) and is very picky about whom to choose for his new friends. One bunny is too thick, one's too brainy, one has personal hygiene problems, etc. His mother succinctly puts him straight: He needs to try getting along with everyone and fitting in with what THEY want.

The story gets across the message about being sociable without bludgeoning you over the head with it, as the pictures and tone are quite humorous.

My four-year-old enjoys it. It is quite short so should be digestible by a three-year-old, maybe even a two-year-old.

5.0 out of 5 stars Give and Take --- That's What Makes a Friendship! 2 Jan 2007
By George Buttner - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
"Friends" is a nice little picture book written and illustrated by Rob Lewis. This story is about a rabbit boy named Oscar who moves to a new place. Like a lot of kids in his situation, Oscar finds himself needing some new friends. Thing is, he's not sure he wants to play with any of them when it seems like they won't want to go swimming with him.

The kids in Oscar's new neighborhood all invite Oscar to do things with him. Oscar, however, isn't really sure that he wants to. He doesn't want to play with a boy named Charles when he offers to let him look through his telescope --- he doesn't like people who are smarter than him, or so he says. And he doesn't want to play with Maisy --- she invites him to play her drums, but he finds her to be way too loud.

Oscar wonders if he will ever find anyone to friends with. He learns, though, that the process sometimes requires some give-and-take.
