Fun Little LEGO Friends Set, but don't pay more than $5 for it. 26 Feb 2013
By Dre - Published on Amazon.com
Our 5 year old daughter loves Lego Friends. She first saw them at a friends house and was instantly obsessed with them. We purchased a set for Christmas and it was a big hit. We got this little set for her to expand her collection and she loves it.

The LEGO Friends Birthday Party Set is one of those tiny sets in a little hanging bag with only 39 pieces. It includes the Andrea character. It also includes several birthday party accessories like balloons, a table, a cake and a birthday gift. The instructions are very detailed and easy to follow for a 5 year old. The recommended age is 5-12 and a 5 year old will only need minimal help with it.

Obviously this is a very small set that you usually find on an end cap at your local store hanging on a hook. The MSRP on the LEGO web site for this set is $4.99. If a set isn't Retired, you shouldn't have to pay much more than the MSRP which is usually the going rate from WalMart, Target and the LEGO web site. Some Secondary Amazon Merchants sell this set for much more which is in no way worth it. You pay more per piece for these little sets, but for $10 you can easily find 80-100 piece LEGO Friends sets. This size set should be purchased at your local store if you can find it. If you can't find it elsewhere and Amazon is your only option, please be sure you know what you are getting in this small set. Make sure to shop around.

Long story short, this is a nice addition to your LEGO Friends collection if you can find it for around $5, and it would make for a nice stocking stuffer.

What a rip off! 14 Dec 2013

My fault as I must not have read the fine print. I paid $14.00 for 39 pieces!!!! Truly expected a "box" of LEGOs. When my shipment arrived, I thought that this set had not been included. In fact, it was SO small, I initially thought it was a "freebee". My granddaughter probably has most the LEGO Friends sets, but she won't receive any more from her grandmother.

Set #30107 Birthday Party: There are great Polybags and there are good polybags and then there are polybags that make us cringe when we see them because as completists we insist on buying up every polybag on site. Thankfully this isn't one of those types.

Birthday Party is one of three brand new Friends Polybags being offered by LEGO this year, out of the three available I find this one to be a bit less useful for parts and the overall design of the model.

This Polybag has two things and only two things that are built from it, a table with a cake and balloons and a birthday present. Now the table itself is built using two circular plates and a cylinder, then you add some other parts to make the balloons (although I've never known a balloon to have gaping holes in them) and of course you get to build a jelly and icing filled cake. (Using white and clear red studs to simulate the effect.) As models go it isn't that bad, the build is simple and quick; like in most Polybag sets, and it does offer up some nice colors. (Pale blue and yellow for the plates, dark rose balloon string holding parts and the balloons themselves are yellow and green Astromech head pieces connected via a Technic piece.)

Let them build cake. 27 Oct 2013

My girls particularly love the cake and balloons from this set, and I don't know that I've seen this particular minifig in most of the other sets, so she is a nice addition to our collection.

LEGO Sets for Girls? Yes Please! 13 Nov 2013

This was a birthday present for my daughter who couldn't leave her brother's LEGOs alone. These are geared toward little girls, with all the "cool" of standard LEGO sets.
