5.0 out of 5 stars Enlightening and practical 14 July 2006
Penny Power together with Thomas and Andy have written an awesome but easy to read book. It works at various levels:

- As an introduction to the importance, value and benefits of effective networking;

- As an expose of the various online networking platforms, identifying the similarities and differences - so that readers are better placed to decide which to try out and what to expect;

- As an enlightened look at the near future given the increase in home working, online communications and social networking.

You can read this book in one go, chapter by chapter or just by dipping in and out to chapters that take your fancy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great vision of the future 2 Sep 2006
The Ecademy team are always one step ahead of the rest and this book is no exception. Their vision of the future is always spot on - watch it unfold before your very eyes, I have.

It also has everything you need to know to be a successful Networker in today's modern world. There is something here for everyone to learn.

Take note so you dont miss out!

1.0 out of 5 stars Truly Dreadful 19 May 2006
No new ideas in here, simply a regurgitation of Thomas Power's other ghost-written rubbish.

Badly written, which stretches to the blurb above. This will probably change once they see this review, but at the time of writing includes the sentence "The authors detail a future that for those who are prepared and aware of the new possibilities will benefit greatly.". Say what?

Perhaps the whole venture is a brave new concept in advertising, where you have to pay to read the advert. I doubt it though.

I submit that most of the below reviews go against the review guidelines, particularly "reviews submitted by, or on behalf of, companies or websites". The reviewers are stakeholders in Ecademy, and will have been asked to submit these reviews by Mr Power in his capacity as leader of the BlackStar club.

This book which starts out with some good meaning but falls down on actual content

The content is fairly anecdotal and does not really help someone who is interested in developing or further honing their skills in networking.

There are some good stories but little actual help on the process of how to plan and execute a networking strategy.

Books by the likes of Ivan Misner founder of BNI would be a better investment.

1.0 out of 5 stars Save your money 12 May 2006
By Andy
This book is little more than advertising for the authors' site.

Much of the advice given is within the context of their site and not related to the world at large, it's also pretty obvious stuff.

Save your money...

1.0 out of 5 stars Nothing new in here 19 May 2006
By David
This is a poorly written book and is riddled with typographical, grammatical and spelling errors showing a distinct lack of attention to detail by the authors and publishers.

It appears to be a collection of clichés and social networking folklore melded together in attempt to gaze into the future of the world economy. Whilst prediction is a very inexact science previous attempts at this by some of the credited authors have proven to be spectacularly wrong.

The online social networking world is currently going through a period of introspection as the main players in the market struggle to attain profitability. This fact is singularly ignored by the authors, who , it's important to note, run one such enterprise.

Quite an amateur biased and self promoting effort all in all. Steer clear.
