I have been looking for a solution to allow me to hear the front door bell whilst working in my garage and have tried various cheaper wireless kits to accomplish this. I finally decided to spend the extra and get this kit after wasting a fair amount of money on inferior products. As I said in the title I should have bought this one first.
The system is easy to set up and has worked flawlessly since installing.
The bell chime volume can be varied to suit, as can the style of chime, and it has the added bonus of integrating into my Friedland garage alarm system so I can hear if the garage door is opened whilst I am in the house.
I cannot comment on the battery life yet but they say 12 months is to be expected from the units.
In this case you get what you pay for and that is a quality product.

Excellent range even through several walls to the bottom of a very large garden. Loud and also flashes. Two cons: (a) the push button needs to be pressed and held in and I have missed at least one visitor because of that; so I put a little note under the button to that effect, and (b) the push button can also be easily be popped open (to change cell battery) and could be vandalised or even stolen; so I put white electrical tape around the seam to deter this.

I had tried some cheaper alternatives previously, but I ended up with these and they're brilliant. Solved all the problems, very loud (but can be turned down if needed), modular (can add extra units or bell pushes etc), classy looking and no problems with range. I got rechargable batteries with a new charger and although a bit of an initial outlay am sure that I will have many years of service from them now. I thought I could take the one downstairs out into the garden if needed, but I positioned it close to the door and you can hear it from everywhere. It's also 100% reliable every time you push the button. Having missed someone at the door from the previous broken bell, which caused much inconvenience, I have great peace of mind that this will never happen again! Having one upstairs and one downstairs means that even with TV's/radio on etc bells can still be easily heard all round.
