Amazon.co.uk Review

The tender, tragic saga of Jason Vorhees, the world's unhappiest camper, continues when yet another batch of hormonally advanced teens decide to ignore past history and spend some time at the woodsy, pine-scented slaughterhouse known as Camp Crystal Lake. It may be a bit of a stretch to describe any of the entries in this interminable series as "good," but this creatively grotesque installment manages to come surprisingly close with a welcome sense of humour and some quick glimmers of real menace (courtesy of director Steve Miner, who would later go on to helm the far more accomplished Halloween: H20). Originally presented in 3-D, which explains the never-ending slew of objects (knives, pitchforks, yo-yos, cats, eyeballs, etc.) that are repeatedly thrust in the viewer's general direction. --Andrew Wright

GORE-TASTIC! ! ! ! 31 July 2005
Format:DVD
This is probably the best Friday the 13th film after THE FINAL CHAPTER and has some pretty good death scenes.
This film has a decent story to it but it's still not much different from some of the others (bunch of people go to Camp Crystal Lake, they get killed one by one by god-knows-what type of sharp steel garden tool or machete then one extremely exausted, half naked, woman who is soaked in blood kills Jason.......again!).
But nomatter how similar it is to the other films it's still a 'bloody' great film.
The body count for this film is 12 kills wich is only 2 more than the first one but the way the people are killed is reason why you dont really care about how many people die.
This is a great film and must be watched by anyone who likes slasher films!

If you are a horror fan like me and go for all those cheesy horror films, then this is a must. Ignore all the others because they were dreadful with exception to the first. This is the one when jason gets his mask, and not to mention the harpoon!!!!!!

Chasin' Jason 13 May 2009
Format:DVD
This film was made in 1982 on a low budget and consequently the effects are not going to be great. The idea is really to make the viewer jump with as many false scares as possible; then jump even higher when it's really Jason and not the store owner/deranged biker/insane hobo. This is a pretty cool stalk and slash horror from the genre's golden age; the reason I'm only giving it four stars is because of the random scenes which neither further the plot - the recap of part 2 at the start, the aforementioned hobo with his 'eye'...to name but two - nor add anything new for the audience. It's also quite entertaining to spot where the original theatrical 3D parts occur, and marvel at the quaint nature of this once revolutionary cinematic vision.

Is Paramount trying to cut the Blu-Ray format's throat?
This is primarily a review of the Blu-Ray transfer and not the film as such. If you want to convince someone to go Blu, don't show them this piece of junk. Read more
