All 13 episodes from the fourth series of the TV drama that expands on the hit feature film of the same name. The action centres on the small rural town of Dillon, Texas, where the coveted state football championships are held in the highest regard. In this series, with minimum funding and no coaching staff after local re-zoning creates two high-school districts, coach Taylor (Kyle Chandler) is finding it hard enough trying to build up his new team - the East Dillon Lions - into a coherent unit, let alone championship contenders. The episodes are: 'East of Dillon', 'After the Fall', 'In the Skin of a Lion', 'A Sort of Homecoming', 'The Son', 'Stay', 'In the Bag', 'Toilet Bowl', 'The Lights in Carroll Park', 'I Can't', 'Injury List', 'Labouring' and 'Thanksgiving'.

I have loved all the earlier seasons of this outstanding US show but thought that with the coach's move to East Dillon I would miss all the supporting cast that I have come to love.
Some of them may not be on the screen as often but continue to grow & the new cast is equally as engaging.

Thankfully Tim Riggins is still very visual & proves to be a genuine 'rough diamond' & 'loveable rogue' in the final episode.
Coach & Principal Taylor remain the best advert for marriage that I have ever seen & long may they reign.

My only complaint is that it has half as many episodes as Season 1 & leaves you wanting more!

For those who are familiar with FNL, series 4 picks up on the begining of a new era. Dillon High has been split into 2 schools. West Dillion which is regarded as the affluent, successful school with the Panthers as an established football team, and East Dillon which is seen as the poor relation. Many of the established previous characters have moved on, although some have stayed and some do come back in a few episodes.

Coach Taylor is now in charge of the East Dillon Lions, effectively having to start from scratch to select, train and motivate a new football team. Tami is facing the pressures of Joe McCoy running the Panthers far more politically than was ever the case before, even with Buddy, and there are pressures on the Taylors from being split by their schools.

The other storylines are based around the established characters (Tim, Julie, Landry and Matt) but there are plenty of new interesting characters who are also involved.

FNL series 4 follows the formula that has made it always so succesful; great and complex characters, a compelling script and beautifully shot using the Texas countryside as a great backdrop.

Fans of the FNL series will definitley not be disappointed with series 4 as it stays true to the storyline, the only downside is there are only 12 episdoes in this series and it continues to only be available on region 1 DVD.

GREAT! I've now also purchased Season 5 which is the final one of the series. I think I'll really miss all the characters, and the well written stories about them, which realistically portray how life is lived "on both sides of the tracks" in Texas.

absolutely brilliant ..... best TV series I've seen, this season starts quite dark but the humanity of the main characters wins through and brings out the good heart of the people in this small Texas town without ever shirking hot topics. Filming and editing are crisp, lively and always engaging. A classic

Another fantastic season. Just brilliant. Season 4 brought a great new twist to the story with some new characters who are mixing in well with some old favourites.

There is quite a shock here, fans urgently needing to adjust. Forget about the Panthers (much of the time anyway). They and their school represented the "HAVE"s. Focus has now shifted to East Dillon and the "HAVE NOT"s - its school poorly equipped, sports field a joke, its footballing Lions a team of misfits and losers. Displaced Coach Taylor has to start again from scratch, this time there a great sense of urgency if sport is to steer surly teenagers from lawlessness. Key to success would seem to be Vince - father in prison, mother on drugs. If he can be won over, others will follow.

The series has become darker, more gritty - and is all the better for it.

Check out the interesting bonuses, these hitherto in short supply. At long last there is a chance to see cast discussing their roles.

Any chance of a match between Panthers and the revitalized Lions? You bet there is, many viewers likely to be bellowing at the screen.

Yes, many changes. The result does not disappoint.

Again the five stars are well deserved.

I love this series. Have ordered the 5th season and am looking forward to seeing it. The new characters fit seamlessly into the story, and I would say it's probably my favourite US series....EVER!.
